A big problem is O wants “lifers” on his staff

He wants coordinators who are going to stay for years and work under him. He was no doubt pissed that Brady left after one year and was petty enough in regards to Aranda leaving by claiming he had the best defense now that he’s ever had.
Problem is the coaches who are lifer coordinators are that for a reason. He could build a nice coaching tree for himself but he’s too afraid of having to replace a new coach every 2-3 years.
And the result is old coaches who have been passed by the current game.

He wants yes men that have the same view of offense and defense that he does. Which is INSANE considering the success he had with coordinators doing it with different views.

Yeah Bo and Ensminger probably do have “preaux life” stickers on their vehicles, as old and stupid as they are. But what’s your point?

There’s honestly no problem with that if they are good

Yep. Brady was the best thing that ever happened to Ensminger. Sometimes you gotta take a chance on a young up and comer. They’ve got some really good ones out there if he would do his homework.

This sounds familiar

The honeymoon is over... Nepotism will eventually ruin Orgeron here at LSU. Its just a matter of time.
It ruined Les at the end of his tenure when he hired his buddy Cameron. Its about to ruin Gus at Auburn with the Morris hire.

Dabo and Saban both have the same mindset. the problem isn't that he wants lifers. the problem is the lifers he picks.

False... Saban doenst hire lifers. One thing about Saban is he will hire whoever gives him the best shot to win the next championship. He always put the best player on the field that gives him a chance to win. He's not going to coddle upperclassmen players with playing time because they waited their turn.

But he was hired on the notion that he would bring in the best coordinators and let them do their job.
You have to know that if you do that, most will leave on short order for head coaching jobs or NFL jobs.

Then why Brady for passing game coordinator?

I disagree.
Linehan was only signed to a 2 year deal. Pelini opening talked about wanting to get another major college HC jobs. Neither guy signed with LSU to be here "long term".
The problem with O is that he wants "comfort" hires. Guys that won't challenge him on his overall philosophy. In short, he's not going to hire another Matt Canada. Canada didn't give a shite about O's thoughts back in 2017. It was essentially "you hired me to run the offense, so stfu and let me do it. I don't care about your personnel decisions, style of play requests, etc, etc." That led to Ensminger getting the permanent job. E is going to do what O wants (even if E doesn't really like it). Pelini was brought in because he was going to run Orgeron's defense. O didn't love Aranda's style of play.
IMO, there is always going to be a sense of insecurity with O because he knows he's not a gameplanner/playcaller. Thus, he's not going to bring in someone who might usurp his authority.
The sad thing is 2019 should have brought him beyond that insecurity. And maybe it did. Maybe it made Ed too full of himself. As in, "I know the two guys I hired aren't in great demand. But they are going to be great because I hired them and they are at LSU."

Deep down if you pay attention to what O says, he is insecure and sensitive to those who are smarter than him (Aranda, Brady, etc.). Problem is, O is highly dependent on these types to win at elite level.
Case in point if O has any basic football understanding we’d have a few plays under center for goal line offense and have some basic corrective measures to make in defense since Miss St.
I don’t think the cheerleader recruiting specialist is enough for sustained success at LSU.

I don’t know how true this is. Hanny made a comment in post game yesterday that I thought was interesting, he said just like Matt Canada, Bo Pelini viewed this as a stepping stone job that should help land him another P5 head coaching gig. I don’t think Hanny makes that comment if that’s just a unverified opinion.

100%. He has a massive ego. It’s not enough for him to put the pieces together and get full credit for it. Blows my mind. A proven historic formula for success only 9 mos ago, but he’s going to do it his way.

Wrong. Saban reloads coaches like he clockwork.
