On cgrand's suggestion, I wanted to make a spinoff to discuss solar stocks (and any companies that support the solar industry).
Here is a quick rundown of companies I am aware of and their approximate market cap as of October 2020
SEDG......$15B
ENPH.......$13B
FSLR.......$ 8B
RUN........$ 9B
VSLR......$ 5B
SPWR......$ 4.41B
CSIQ.......$ 2B
JKS..........$ 2B
MAXN......$600M
Several small/micro caps exist as well. Here are a few I have noted.
SUNW.......$60M
PECK.......$50M
AACTF.....$16M (pink sheets for you gamblers)
SIRC.......$11K (pink sheets)
The Invesco ETF for this industry is TAN
ETA: I will occasionally add more as new suggestions come in.

If you want to play "solar" at more of a macro level, NextEra needs to be on your list. I say "macro" given NextEra's sheer size ($146B market cap). They not only site, develop, construct and operate solar plants, but they also have transmission, distribution and retail operations for getting it to customers. In addition, they have a fantastic M&A game, an attractive retail footprint and are a visionary in the industry.
ETA: Unless you're just looking at component part suppliers, in which case disregard the above.

Hey MT,
Never posted here but been lurking for a while and just started investing in June. Have made some money on some suggestions here after researching myself and learned a lot from the sticky threads and others, so appreciate that MT!
If you are interested in an ETF check out ALPS Clean Energy ETF (ACES). Got in at $38 back in June and it has done well for me. Top holdings are below which include some of the companies in TDFreak's post.
Edited to make the chart look cleaner. Clearly my first post/quote. Still not great..

Though not strictly solar, QCLN is an ETF that is worth a look.

Looks like most of solar is down today.

Check out BEEM. It is solar charging stations for EVs. Small and easy to install since it doesn’t require electric infrastructure.

Given the power grid in California is becoming less reliable, I wonder if homeowners will use solar & batteries to supplement their homes. Or would home generators be the better play?
