Obviously from all the replies we can't talk about anything Shannan did without it being a 100% implied statement that we endorse Chris murdering his family

Obviously what he did is frowned upon, but she's not without blame

She was a narcissist. Anyone that thinks the world needs to see everything in her life on facebook certainly is.
However, I would have divorced her...not killed her and two kids.
Before Facebook she would just be a gossipy bitch....facebook gave her and everyone else a platform.

quote:I guess you missed the part about the inlaws not showing up to their wedding because they didn't like her.
Disinviting them from their grandchild's birthday party, etc., qualifies as crazy in my book.
There's probably a whole lot more to the story than the fricking cookie incident. That one situation wasn't so much about the cookie as much as it had built up to that and she decided to use that as an outlet to her emotions.

Disinviting them from their grandchild's birthday party, etc
quote:The beginning of the story started out as two cheesy starry eyed lovers madly in love with one another.
Seemed like she did it constantly.
She talks about how she didn't deserve him, how great of a man he was, had her daughters sing to their daddy that he was a hero, etc. If anything, she was annoying in the opposite way. I don't get where you're saying she pestered him the entire time. She starting doing that when: 1. she was pregnant, and 2. he started working out and started ignoring her. That was about halfway into the story. I'm gonna say it again. Pregnant women can be erratic and irrational on a fricking dime. Makes sense to me that she would start flying off the handle there.
I feel like you got it in your head that you watched this and kind of had sympathy for Chris Watts so anything the wife did, you didn't pay full attention to the story or missed pieces of it and connected the dots any old way you wanted them to be. I'm not saying she's completely void of fault in the way she acted. But the stuff you're choosing to harp on can easily be explained and simply say that she was annoying. There is nothing about the way that she acted that would tell me she deserved to be killed. Nothing.
How do you explain what Chris Watts did? You can't.

I love how everyone feels like they have to include this comment in their posts.

My basic take away
You do see how you are victim shaming here... right?
I think we all just need to hear that.

Seems like they failed miserably raising their son, but were also a good judge of character.

I'm sure a lot of people have thought about a lot of things. Doing them makes someone different, does it not?

Oh for frick's sake. We're talking about two separate matters.

Not everyone handles life the same. What a weird thing to make wild assumptions here, or try and say what someone should have done when you have zero facts, and were not there.

Considering he was the one that murdered the family, I'm not quite sure I would side with his parents' obvious notion that she was the one that wasn't good enough for him.

So you're saying it's not selfish to pull a no show to your son's wedding? They explained the reason in the doc. They said it was because the parents did not like the wife.

I'm not saying it was selfish or wasn't... because I wasn't there. I don't know the full story. By going to a wedding you are telling the bride or groom that you support their marriage. They did not support it, for whatever reasons, and didn't go. Was that selfish? Perhaps, but perhaps they also weren't being fake?
If a friend of mine who had been abused by her boyfriend for years told me they were getting married, I would not go to the wedding. I wouldn't think that was me being selfish. My only point is, who knows the full truth to the story. It is odd to be judging this family that none of us know.
The only "take away" should be this guy had serious mental issues and should be locked up for life.

Then I've got news for you. You accuse me of doing something I didn't do, I will call you a liar. And that's what you are. A liar.
