PSA for KETO fans: Three Bridges Egg Bites are back at Costco

There are 4 types available at Kroger and one exclusive to Costco
I actually prefer the Costco ones (4 2-packs for $10) which surprised me because I'm a meatitarian and usually don't care for egg whites over eggs with yolks but these are the best. I put a little pat of Vermont Creamery butter on top when the come out of the Microwave and they are FIRE.
These are the closest in flavor and texture of Starbucks egg bites I've found.
Great quick keto breakfast.

I make homemade ones and can't develop a taste for the pre-made ones. Which is such a first world problem, I know.

quote:how? i've tried and haven't been able to come close to the flavor & texture of the starbucks gruyere egg bits. also i am looking for something fast.
I make homemade ones
have you tried the three bridge ones? you might be surprised how good they are.
i agree with you; every other premade frittata/egg bites i've tried are pretty awful but these are good.

I'll admit to a liking for the starbucks version, and I've come pretty close to a homestyle one
--PITA but very soft textured is to steam them in a pressure cooker, using the small egg bite sized silicone molds. I say PITA bc you've got to mix, spoon into the molds, pressure cook, and then scrub the damn molds when you're done. Also makes just a few at a time (6-8, depending on your molds/size of pressure cooker)
--in the toaster oven (or regular oven), as a crustless quiche baked in a glass pie pan. Here's the formula: 6 eggs to a cup of heavy cream, blitzed with an immersion blender, then fold in whatever seasonings and add-ins you like: grated cheese, crumbled bacon, diced ham, steamed broccoli florets, blah blah. Pour mix into a buttered pie plate, bake for 25-30 mins at 325 degrees.
The recipe can be adjusted in size for the size of your pie plate, and you can even use a tall springform pan to do 18 eggs and yield tall wedge slices for a buffet breakfast.
What keeps the texture soft and custardy like the Starbucks version is the high proportion of cream to eggs.

have you tried the three bridges ones? they are legit. very fluffy and creamy.
i get them woohoo from kroger for $1.99 all the time or 4/$10 at costco. for that price they're a steal and all you do is heat them for 1:30 and you're done.

Price is not a steal compared to making from scratch. 18 eggs cost me $3.

I’m also considering the waste generated by the plastic and cardboard packaging used for freakin egg bites, so easy a fourth grader could make them. I’m buying local farm eggs and recycling my egg cartons back to the farmer every few weeks. I’m not so busy or so amazingly well compensated that 10 minutes once a week to mix a crustless quiche is going to put a dent in my income. Cook once, breakfast all week. Seems efficient to me.
Too, I loathe excess non biodegradable packaging, and egg bites definitely tick that box.

While I agree with you, if you are driving somewhere to only buy one product like eggs instead of going to the grocery store to buy everything at once we can make an argument you are wasting a lot yourself.
Your rant was unnecessary on the FB
