knew we were thin at DB playing guys that we're injured/new to team yet he insisted on playing man the whole game instead of trying out a zone keeping things in front of you, which is how you beat air raid if that dude ever watched a lick of Leach film study at WSU

Leach had him in his pocket all day, worst performance on the field yesterday and he didn't even play. UNACEPTABLE

He started writing this on Sunday, it just took him this long to finish his masterpiece.

So...you realize zone is much harder to play than man right?
1) Pellini has only had a few weeks to install his defense cause COVID.
2) Evans had only been at LSU 2 weeks.
3) Ward just had meniscus surgery
4) Ricks is a true freshman
5) Sting was out with ZERO prep time to switch roles around.

Man defense was really the only option. If Sting was there we beat State.

The only real argument against this decision is that it was so bad, ANYTHING should have been tried.

But, the same reasons our guys were torched in man to man are reasons why Pelini didn't want to go zone at all. We had guys who weren't prepared for the spots they were in and he was concerned about having broken coverages. At least with man to man, you give your guys an athletic chance of making a play.

Too many people literally think that Pelini is just hardheaded. No. He made a conscious decision for probably very good reasons. And, the truth is that we were just fricked one way or another.

I think what you are going to find with Bo is what you found last time, he's going to have a couple of head scratching game plans every year.

He's a leader of men and that to me is his strongest attribute. But there were times the first time around where I think issues with his gameplans were legit and reasonable.

Uhhhhhhh man to man is an easier concept for young inexperienced guys to be able to understand you know that right?

You just tell them hey that’s your guy go wherever he goes. Zone takes a lot more time to learn and takes a group that communicates and works together.

Stingley being out. Vincent opting out. Inexperienced young DB's having to switch and play out of position last mininute against a 90/10 pass run offense with an experienced Sr QB cost us the game. Perfect storm for MSU. Diaster for the Tigers.

Pelini was a good DC if you just looked at the TOTAL STATS...
his weakness was, and is still obviously, his 3rd downs.
Pelini is just overrated.

That's why he left LSU, and why he is not at Nebraska,
A good year or 2 and is over.

With stingley out ,usually he shuts down one receiver and you can use the safety to help out the other or blitz him and you have flott on other and ricks in nickel. Now flott on one side ricks on other after he practiced for nickel and that puts ward and Evans in nickel. Any running team would have been ok but air raid a disaster

You act like these players are freshmen in high school, and like none of them ever saw a zone.

He had plenty of time to prepare a few zone schemes, especially for game one, when they found out they had to play a Mike Leach coached team.

Going in with only a man defense and no other options was pee wee bush league football.
