2020 NBA Draft Combine participants list — LaMelo Ball will participate; projected top selections Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman and Obi Toppin are not:
Here's how the Combine is set up this year:
quote:
NBA Draft Combine 2020 will give players the opportunity to participate in league and team interviews, both conducted via videoconference from Sept. 28 through Oct. 16. Players will also take part in an individual on-court program consisting of strength and agility testing, anthropometric measurements, shooting drills and a “Pro Day” video, all conducted in October at the NBA team facility nearest to a player’s home or interim residence. Medical testing and examinations will be performed by NBA-affiliated physicians in the same market.
As part of the event’s innovative format, the NBA will incorporate HomeCourt, a mobile basketball training application that uses advanced machine learning and computer vision, to provide analytics and record the shooting evaluation portion of NBA Combine 2020 and for players to create a unique “Pro Day” video. The video, used to showcase a player’s skills, may feature only the individual player (and either a coach or trainer) and can be up to 45 minutes long. HomeCourt is developed by NEX Team, Inc., an NBA strategic partner.
Additionally, the NBA has expanded its use of “Combine HQ,” an online tool developed by Fusion Sport in its software platform Smartabase. An interactive online platform, Combine HQ provides NBA teams with a one-stop shop for scouting information gathered during the on-court portions of this year’s Combine. Using Combine HQ, NBA teams and scouts will be able to compare participating players to their peers, past Combine participants and current NBA players, and view detailed shot charts and statistics.

Wiseman opting out of the combine while only playing 3 games this season is a huge red flag for me.

A lot of NBA teams apparently have really big concerns with Wiseman. He may drop.

I would take anyone who wouldn't participate off my draft board. I've never seen a more accommodating combine schedule and process. It's almost too lenient..

He’s so talented and a much better prospect than Whiteside was but sooooo many red flags.

Oh I agree he’s got all the talent in the world to be an AD type player, but I just don’t trust his drive and character. People really like the USC kid just based off the kind of mentality he has alone.

Okongwu is legit. I like him a lot better than Wiseman.
I can seem him going in the top 3 partially because of the Bam hype.

I predicted he would. He’s not a good basketball player.

Its just sad seeing someone piss away such a gift. I don't understand it..

He'll still be a millionaire at the age of 20 while we type on keyboards.

His agent is giving him really bad advice. He is most likely to slide during the draft.

I think the Whiteside comparisons are fair, but Whiteside has some abilities that Wiseman doesn’t. For example, I see this stuff about Whiteside and his athletic ability, and it’s completely overblown. He’s a good, but not a great leaper. Doesn’t have a good second leap and isn’t that good in a crowd. I would say very
much average. He doesn’t move well, really heavy feet. He’s crap in space, hips are ok but like I said heavy feet and bad footwork. He’s not going to be switchable in the NBA, he’s someone you’re going to have to drop in PnR coverage. Etc etc
I have no doubt he’s gonna he a 12+ pts, 12+ rbs, 2+ blks kind of guy in the league, but what I saw when I watched him was honestly pretty surprising. He looked bad.

Killian Hayes is doing Combine Media interviews today.
I love Hayes but I don’t see us having a chance there.

Eh, depends.
Anthony Edwards or any consensus top pick it really doesn't make a whole ton of sense to participate. You can only really go down. But for guys like Wiseman that is a huge red flag for me.
Basically screams out the guy is scared of getting exposed and thinks not participating will harm him less than just going through the motions to assuage concerns.

Lots of names missing:
Edwards, Toppin, Wiseman, S. Bey, Nesmith, Maxey, Vassel, Williams, Anthony, Okungwu

Kyler

LaMelo Ball has been training in Detroit, basically since March.... has refused to get into questions about specific teams, or comparisons to others players. Was clear he wants the ball in his hands, and isn't overly interested with playing with a guard loaded roster

I think it's pretty clear he wants to go to the Knicks. Will be interesting to see if they need to trade up or if he can turn off enough of the 1-7 suitors to fall to them.

The Knicks are leaning against taking Cole Anthony with the No. 8 pick, or even if they trade down into the 14-15-range, per @NYPost_Berman
The main thing here is it seems like the Knicks have been considering trading back into the range of our pick.

Wasserman, who I think I trust with Draft info as much as anyone, says that he spoke to an exec that told him Cole Anthony was #35 on his board. Damn.
