When it does happen, I don’t think it’ll be on the OP’s timeline, but will eventually happen, think Balkanization..... Suburban/left leaning areas population will migrate to areas that fit their ideology and vice versa for conservatives.

The American Civil War was a continuation of the English Civil War.
It was the same people, transported across an ocean, fighting over the same issues.
But the war didn’t settle the conflict, unfortunately. As long as southerners continued to exist, the problem remained. We are two peoples, with a very different vision for society and government.
One wants a highly centralized state, that limits personal freedom. These people are messianic at heart. They want to use government to transform human nature, an impossible task.
Then you have the other camp, which prizes personal liberty to a fault.

The problem is that it won't be like the first time where there were clear cut state lines (I mean, they were somewhat fuzzy when you had things like the Nueces Masscare). If it happens again, there won't be clear cut state lines, it'll be split much more inside of states.

If that happens, it wouldn't be as clearly delineated and ordered as people here seem to think. It will be messy, and in the end, I'm skeptical that anyone will ultimately get what they want out of it.
Balkanization didn't work in the Balkans. Why would it work here?

It is far easier to work within the system than to make a new system, especially in this world, where there are foreign powers that will eventually supersede European countries. If you dislike China's influence in the country now, it will be far worse (as it invites multiple powers larger than the newly founded nations) under a Balkanized scenario.

Our adversaries/competitors have seen the best way to weaken america is to support internal strife within her own borders.

Seems like we have 2 ways to fix the divide , fight or split up. I would love to split up and have all republicans move to red states and democrats move to blue states. It should go by who you voted for or are registered as. We can’t let the smart democrats stay in the republican states. They need to suffer with the rest of the democrats.
I think the idea of splitting the nation should be brought up move . It’s what’s best for everyone if democrats actually believe in what they vote for.

I understand no one on this board believes it. But all this animosity is being fostered by fake facebook and Twitter accounts.
I see some of the most extreme, and obviously fake, stuff posted by a lot of my elderly friends and family members. They have no idea they've been completely duped by a Russian bot farm. It's insane. Then you read through the comments and they really believe it's real.
it's all part of the plan. Be smart about what you read and see online. Most of it is fake.
