We got married at my parents house with about a dozen people there and then went to Sonny’s BBQ

We actually had a free venue. My best friend's parents live in a completely restored 18th century plantation home.
It's beautiful and they've hosted a number of weddings there before. They were my next door neighbors growing up and like family to me.
Even with a free place, it was still a pain in the arse to plan. We were looking for photographers online one night and I told my wife kind of joking, "we should just go to Vegas instead". She said "yeah, screw this. Let's go".

My wedding cost $35 for the marriage license. It was perfect.

I had a friend that eloped last September - she didn’t tell us until she got back from ‘vacation’
My husband and I got married at the courthouse - our parents and siblings knew but that’s it - not really eloping but close enough

That's weird to me. Why hide it?

Are you kidding, the way young people and most people are social media whores?
No wedding equals no look at me moment.

We got married legally for financial reasons. Neither of us are religious. Just isn't something either of us give a shite about.

We did, that was almost 41 years ago. After about the second year, we got remarried in the church with her and my folks.

Big weddings are a waste all around, period.

Divorce rate decreasing? I think not.

Our photographer was drunk and the pictures were shitty.
