Reality Check

Guys it just hit me. I remember being in college when Russell Shepard committed and being pumped about this 5 star QB coming to LSU. Hard to believe he just retired after 7 years in the NFL as a receiver. Man that was 11 yrs ago. From Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee to Brandon Harris, Danny Etling and then finally Joe Burrow it has been a crazy ride. The Leonard Fournette highlight years and chase for the Heisman to Derrius Guice and Danny Etling setting records with Ensminger to Coach O getting Joe Burrow. We’ve seen a Heisman winner, a biletnikoff winner, a Thorpe award winner, and a national championship! I’m sure I failed to mention a lot but man there really is nothing like being an LSU fan! We’ve come a long way!

Watching Anthony Jennings last Saturday at the bar brought me back.
8/24 against Bama. He was the worst player to ever put on the P&G

bama game.
bottom row of the upper deck on the east side, southern 25 yard line, Jennings had a shot to get a win.
he had a wide open field in front of him, looking for a pass, didnt see the opportunity to run, but the whole south end zone did and yelled RUN!
nah. incomplete.

Honestly, I look back and wonder if we had a better coach from after Nick Saban, how many titles would we have? Les was winning games by just having more talent. Just think if all of that talent was maximized?

Nope. And we got to experience a season that 99% of teams never will.
Undefeated season
NC
Heisman
Belitnikoff
Best Oline
RB and another WR in 1st round
Most ever players drafted
Multiple records shattered
Likely most of us will go to our graves reminiscing about the 2019 season.

Hope we never have to resort to it but last year will always allow us a spot at the table. We got the reality of watching the greatest team ever seen on a college football field, and it was our team. Gonna be hard to forget and rightfully so. But I'm still gonna be pissed when we lose every year forward.

I damn sure will! Most you guys will see great seasons again! I’ve been a fan since the 50s a diehard fan since the early 60s and graduated in 72. If you live long enough, you will see and experience everything in Tiger Stadium.
I’ve seen time stand still live in Tiger Stadium. Had my heart ripped out in the loudest game in my lifetime against USC in ‘79 (maybe that is why UF was not as loud for me in 2007), lost a very good friend the night of the Troy game that was a monsoon and Jarret Lee brought them back from the grave and Troy just kept trying to run tempo in the fourth quarter - and we stayed the entire game.
My memories of games could fill a novel. However, if it weren’t for the great friends that we made along the way, I can truly say the pain and heartbreak would likely have been more than I could endure. Tiger fans are the best!
May God bless all of you with a long, healthy, and happy life!
GEAUX TIGERS!

Remember my kid just turned 1 in 2008 and praying they would fire Les miles by atleast 2012.

And this is why it's so great to watch LSU football by focusing on the journey and not some estimate of what you think should happen. I enjoyed every moment and didn't expect anywhere near what happened

Hell yeah we did. Also, I’d put that 100%.
I remember going on the field when we beat Florida in 97. Never thought we’d come this far. We went from just begging to upset, to literally having the greatest team in history.

Couldn't have been more excited for that Independence Bowl in 1997, that's how far LSU has come.

That’s very true. 1995 Independence Bowl was sort of a turning point I suppose.
Nothing like beating Saban.
