New: Nicholls State DB Darren Evans has transferred to #LSU, he told @247Sports. The Glen Oaks product will begin practicing once he's completed his physical.

Evans notched 28 PBU the past three seasons for the Colonels. Big add for Corey Raymond.

so how does this impact our recruit number? does he count against last year's class or this year's class? anyway he didn't count against either? i remember a geaux 247 podcast saying there was possibly a loophole.

He was the last counter LSU had and fills the last spot
With NCAA giving extra year he will have two years to play even though he is a senior
This allows you to play flott in the nickel with Vincent opting out
They needed some cb depth

He also gives possible depth at safety which we will need after this season depending on how we finish in recruiting.

He usually would be. But this season doesn’t count.

Also, people always talk about coverage skills when they talk CBs. He’s definitely good in coverage, but he’s a damn dog in run support. He’s got a great nose for the football and is not afraid to punish people (as much as a dude, 6’3”, 170 lbs can punish people).

We could always use a good veteran DB. Glad to have him.

Honestly props to the staff. They’ve had an answer to all deficits we have had. Starting with Joe Burrow, Jabril Cox, Liam Shanahan, and now Darren Evans

I’m sure if we had one more spot for last year they would’ve found another DE. That’s the only weak spot that may cause us trouble this year. Otherwise, we can make a run to repeat. Geaux Tigers!

I am pulling for him and wish him the best. I hate to ask this but if he is that good, why was he not playing in a major conference, and as a senior, why did he not declare for the draft?

I thought they might pass on him for the DB from McNeese that just decide to transfer. Maybe they can convince him to walk on for one year?
