How does a DPOY who hangs an efficient 30 a night overrated
Lacks basic basketball skills? What?
He’s 25 years old and has improved every year he will never win a championship until a proper team is put around him. Lebron was 27 when he first won in Miami. Kawhi didn’t take a leap til he was around the same age as GA is now, and Giannis is progressing at a fast rate.

MIL made the fateful decision to let Brogdon walk, because they didn't want to pay the tax. That's the #1 reason that people say that Giannis should leave: the Bucks have already indicated that they aren't willing to do what it takes to win.

He is nowhere near the level of Lebron or Kawhi, or a healthy KD or Curry.
In that sense, he's overrated. If you have him just outside your top 3, then he's likely properly rated. I don't think anyone can make a great argument that he'd be one of the top 3 dudes you'd choose to start a playoffs right now, again, assuming health for all players.
quote:That's obviously overstating, but he certainly lacks the offensive ability to be that go to guy late in big games compared to elite players, or that a back to back MVP should have.

I think a better way to say it is that he is not a primary ball handler that can get his own shot. A good team can defend him by “building a fricking wall” in the paint. It’s hard to win a championship with a “big” as your best player unless you have a fantastic number 2 that can function as a primary ball handler. Ball handlers are just more impactful than off ball players. At this moment Giannis doesn’t have the ball handling or passing skills to be a number 1 on a championship team.
Simmons and Russillo have been talking about this on their pods, it makes sense and I’ve even mentioned it on here and the msb in past years (not specifically about Giannis, but more so ball handlers being more impactful than bigs, regardless of who is “better”).
