The entire defense went from super strong to thin as hell. Kary Vincent, Tyler Shelvin, And Neil Farrell Departing took this defense from great to good. And Chase leaving did the same ti the offense.
I expect a fun year, but we are going to lose two or three games. This turned into a rebuilding year no matter what Orgeron says about “next man up”.

quote:rantards are going to be pretty disappointed that lsu's offense is actually quite capable despite "losing so much." we've had this discussion on the rant where the depth chart was broken down but they don't want to have any of it. lsu is going to suck because they're "last in the country in returning production"
To lose so many people there sure are a lot of familiar names on there

quote:even that's not necessarily true. the depth took a hit for sure. however, the starting 11 could be really good. starting 5 for the o line is really solid.

Agreed. Going to give up a lot of yards this season. Depth is a problem there.

We were pretty low in returning production in 2018 as well and ended up being a better team than 2017. When you recruit well, sometimes the talent coming in is better than the talent going out.

Tory at TE? I must have missed something
According to O.
He is a great physical blocker. Plus he has good hands.
He is a good change of pace.

How could this be? There was a post from someone attending practice who said that Emery was behind TDP.

Depth is our problem and it will be for some time.
We have 70 scholarship players (and that includes 4 specialists).
Injuries and positive COVID tests could derail the season and see walk ons play. The starting lineup is great, but the depth is not there to play 10 SEC games. It's just not.
The good news is that this year was always gonna have an asterisk. Just enjoy it for football's sake. And a lot of freshman will get a lot of experience for good runs in 2021 and 2022.

I agree that this year will be a set up year for a run in '21 but only if Brennan comes back.
Depth this year is thin with only 70 scholarship guys. Depth is a must to win championships.

Well, we don't have a fullback anymore

Loosing Justin Thomas, Shelvin, Neil Farrell and TK Mclendon definitely will hurt our d-line rotation. But Roy is going to be better than any of them.

Kirklin will play a similar role to Derick Dillon. Seem very similar size wise, quick and athletic.

Man. That D line is paper thin when you consider true freshman playing college level Dline not really being common.
Posted on 9/8/20 at 12:09 am to Palm Beach Tiger
Not common, but Guillory isnt your average FR dlineman. Ika did well last year and JG is on a different level than him. Find one more for a rotation of 4 and we'll be fine. Jo Evans is probably gonna end up being that guy.

Freshman playing college level D line
From week 5 on last year, Bama basically started 3 freshman D lineman the remainder of the season
One could argue “our freshman D lineman will be just fine”
You could also argue, “that Bama D line is gonna be pretty stout”
Season Should be weird either way

If Evans is that guy, look for Roy to get some time at de. Our de's are small. That will be a concern.

Just a flyer here:
I am betting that Xavier Hill has some moves and that it was a damn strong flip from Bama to us.
