Assume they play their best. Who is the best golfer in the world?

Have to assume that the course doesn’t overly favor one of the main aspects of the game.
Short list would be Rory, DJ, JT, Rahm, Brooks, and maybe DeChambeau?

I think there’s an argument for JT.

This is really tough. I want to lean with koepka assuming at their best means mentally as well. If he’s their mentally and physically healthy he’s really hard to beat. Otherwise it’s Rory, people forget how good he can play.

DJ's A game is a clear step above those others. He's also a dullard and can easily go out and play like a 10 handicap like at Memorial so you never know.

Assuming they play their best, it’s Rory. His highest gear is better than anyone in the world. Watching him hit a golf ball, and watching those other guys, you can tell he hits it different.
Problem is, hes got even less of a give a shite than DJ. Interested to see what effect this new baby will have on him. It could make him really care or really not give a shite.

Morikawa joins this conversation in a year or two. Kid is so pure

Is it? Or is it just because you’ve seen his a game the most recently?
Relatively speaking, compared to the others, he much more one dimensional. Doesn’t feel comfortable hitting it super high, doesn’t really like to hit too many draws, etc

Rory can go into "god mode" that is in pretty rarified air.
I know DJ has had a couple rounds like that too, but Rory has done some truly obscene things on extremely challenging golf courses.
The issue with Rory is he just doesn't care. He doesn't have the drive. He's born with immeasurable talent and he's made hundreds of millions, so he's coasting.
And I can't blame him.

Wow you posted the same thing I did. Should've read the thread
And yeah, DJ can get in the zone on more open courses that allow him to go driver>wedge the entire day, but he's not hitting as many "holy frick" shots that Rory is hitting when he's on.

It’s easily Rory.
Seems like he either goes crazy or is right around even?

Are we talking peak best or right now?
I would give nod to Koepka and DJ right now, but Rory at peak best. Spieth as much as I do not like him, would require conversation for best peak. DeChambeau is at the table but just for conversation, not dinner, for the now.

When Rory is feeling it, it's Tiger 2000 good. He just can't stay dominant for long. That is what is so special about Tiger's run. He never let off the gas.

Rorys ability the peak a 2 iron at 140+ ft is the single most impressive thing I’ve ever seen done on a golf course.
Rory is a streaky wedge player, and not nearly as consistent on that front as DJ (although DJ has struggled with the wedges at times), but this isn’t about consistency.
Prime tiger and prime Rory, strictly in terms of TALENT, are very close.

Pure golf talent, it's Rory. At his best he's absolutely absurd.

I logged onto his trackman at match play a couple years ago. He was hitting these rocket high 2 irons carrying 245 with a height of 140 ft and landing at like 51*
