The reality that this fall will be unlike any other

It’s hitting me. No need to discuss the politics of players opting out. It sucks we won’t get to see them, but it’s not like this is a normal year where Saturdays in the South will dominate the landscape. Sucks to pretty much assume there won’t be any tailgating or games (for me to attend) this year. I feel like it cheapens the fun of seeing your team defend a title.

Totally agree. I don’t think we are going to see a playoff either this year, meaning no new team will challenge for the title until 2021.

Best thing anyone who cares about the future can do is don't watch the games this year. Don't attend. Don't buy merchandise.

My OP is from a non-political standpoint. I think this whole mess stemmed from Covid, and the response, but at its core...it just really sucks that for the first time in my existence, the pageantry and excitement of CFB is not there.
Had I known we were headed for this, I would have broken the bank to go to Atlanta and NO last year. This makes me appreciate a Saturday against Vandy so much more.

The bad thing about it is, college football will never be the same again, book it. It's just like a lot of other things we have become used to in life, this will forever change the way we live!

Unless politicians are going to micromanage this, I don’t think much changes. There’s too much money to be made. There might be changes as to how many years a player must be in college, but I can’t think of much more.

If they are going to have a season then there needs to be a champion..
Absolutely a playoff.
Absolutely a playoff.

I think that has been pretty obvious for a while. I am just going to sit back and enjoy the season. LSU lost a tremendous amount of talent in the draft. Now this. Other teams will be dealing with the same issues. Be thankful for the 2019 season, and hope for continued success.

How can you think about college football when so many college kids are dying from this horrible plague?!!!
Oh...wait. They’re not...
Well, how can you put the lives of all the fans at risk by cramming them into stadiums so we develop a herd immunity and end this pandemic? Oh wait,..that would be a good thing...
Well how could you dare worry about football when the government who knows what’s best for you tells you to stay home bc they are all medical professionals and/or geniuses? Oh wait...they think a naval base will make Guam capsize and are in general narcissist with low intelligence.
Hummm...no way to keep politics out of this thread bc they are interrelated.

I fully expect at least some games to be cancelled

Win or lose with the kids that want to be there. For the Seniors whom this will be the last time playing football. As fans, we need to support the team that remains.

The Covid situation really threw everything for a loop.
I don't expect college games this fall to be more than exhibitions; we will see the uniforms but we won't see the real program. Players, teams, conferences opting out; empty stadiums; no intersectional games.
I don't expect a playoff, and definitely not a lot of bowls. There just won't feel like a lot on the line, other than to show up and perform, and say "hey, we're here".
I expect the grandeur will return next season, but maybe diminished. Or maybe not, perhaps we'll be starved for the excitement of game day then.
