“A negative test doesn’t mean you won’t develop an infection.”

And a positive test doesn’t mean you have an infection.

Can someone explain why this is? Is it because there is a period of time when the tests won't pick up the virus? If so, what is that period of time?

You can still get infected at another time in the future

you are just testing negative at the time the test was taken.

About time.
Temperatures should be taken and those who have fever should be sent home.If it remains a day later, maybe be tested.
Everyone who wishes to be quarantined should stay home.
Everyone else should carry on unless they are sick.

I've said this from day one. It's friggin ignorant to tell people stay home, you can't work, avoid family, friends, as much as possible. But, go get out and get an invasive procedure to collect a sample for a test that you most likely don't need and this violates the Hippocratic Oath.

That’s also true. But it’s not what it said. It said you could still get infected from the initial close contact.

Nah, Fauci flopped on that one, I think we’ve moved on to stool samples now.

So now testing asymptomatic if not high risk is common sense? Our country needs to stop being do damage political and use more fricking commonsense. There is no frickjng point and never has been to taking a test if there are no symptoms

Democrats are like the guy in Fast & Furious who hit the NOS too early. All of their hoaxes are running out of steam as we near the finish line.
