I still don't get how this should be illegal unless there is some tax fraud type stuff involved.
Private schools should be able to take big donations to get dumb rich kids in so the money can be used for scholarships for poor smart kids.

I believe there was some sort of fraud component as they may have listed the bribes as charitable donations.
Sad thing is, if they just gave the money directly to the school, they could have had their name thrown on a building/wall and the kids still would have be able to get in.

There must've been, right? But the judges remarks for the husband's sentencing didn't mention anything to do with tax fraud that I saw.
Granted, I'm not up-to-speed on these cases. I just always thought it was fine for super rich people to bribe their kids into elite colleges and then the colleges use this money to improve for all the other students. Juice is definitely worth the squeeze. The Ivy's have done this since their inception.
