Was looking to buy a car, had two in baton Rouge offer me pretty competitive prices.

Tiger was slightly less so I asked them over the phone to cut a little more than their offer. They told me come on in and we'll knock down the price a few hundred. Other Honda was firm and then didn't budge so we drove to tiger anticipating to just pay their price (it was already competitive and better than 10 other Hondas).

So got there. Sales guy talks to his manager, just like everytime. Manager comes out the room angry with the guy and states "If they don't want that fricking price then I don't want them to leave and come back expecting that price". We heard. I think he realized it, and tried to backtrack.

Unprofessional as can be, ended up being able to get the car at team Honda for a little less. Pleasant and professional.

I'm also in the market for a Honda, how far did you look? I've gotten quotes in Houston that are pretty competitive and blow any quotes from Louisiana's Honda dealerships out the water.

I looked from Houston to Birmingham (coming from Nola).

Best price so far calculating mileage, gas, etc was richards honda and team honda surprisingly. That's where I ended up after going to tiger. Usually I go to Slidell - last 3 new cars they had the best prices, but they couldn't get the specific model and color.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably give them another chance to try to come close to my Houston quote.

I know this strategy has been mentioned a ton on this site. Email the dealerships then pit them against one another for the best price. Some will play ball some won’t. Saves you the go to the dealer and haggle nonsense

60 month, the 1.9 was nice and didn't have time to wait for end of the year to wait for 0.9

To the guy above, yup did that to get the price. Houston was 500 less, but it's not worth the drive. Richard, team, and tiger had the best and they had the car on the lot.

Slidell, Covington, and premier couldn't get the car without trading and it wasn't worthwhile at the price.

I have bought my last 5 Honda’s from Richards. Always had a great experience and their service department is pretty good.

Told the manager thanks for giving me the opportunity to complain.

The sales rep ran after us to apologize and even emailed me just now at 730pm.

I bought my wife’s Honda from Richards. My only complaint is that it took 6 hours to sign all the papers.

Update: car salesman and the sales manager called this morning from a different line. I got the salesman on voicemail apologizing profusely, and asked if we would come in they'd "make it right". I picked up when the sales manager called.

Told them no and I already purchased the car, got the price I wanted, and the dealership even gave me the floor mats and cargo liner as a thank you for my business. Also told the manager he could tell his salesman because of the unprofessional attitude, he lost a guarantee sale because I was buying that car for the price you stated regardless if you could have gone down or not. Thanked him for his time and hung up.

Asses gonna arse.

I hate the car sales business model in this country. Everyone knows it’s a racket, the sales people know the customers are a bunch of marks, and the result is overly complicated and contentious ‘negotiations’ to see just how bad the buyer will get fleeced. If someone gets away with a ‘good deal’ they’re still taking it in the arse. It’s just a matter of how deep the dealers are able to lay the wood.

Team Honda is very pleasant and professional BUT I've always found them to be the highest-price Honda dealer around here.

Was pleasantly surprised as well.

Usually team, royal, and superior are the highest priced in nola-br and its my first time buying from one of the 3. I usually skip, but glad I didn't. Richards Honda was definitely a pleasant interaction as well so in all honesty I'd just avoid tiger from now on. Or just use them for cheaper prices to bargain.

I got a sweet price on my wife’s new Honda by doing the following: Went to autotrader.com, found the new car I wanted with a 500 mile search filter, sorted by price and found the lowest advertised price, called up a few dealers and asked them if they’d be willing to meet or beat the price. The best price I found was at econo Honda in Chattanooga but Honda of Covington let me have the same price.
