Wegners last year and a half we were shite.
We really went to shite when we targeted Xhaka and Mustafi. Xhaka is a limited player who you have to build around. This also coincided with the decline of Sanchez, and just shite play all around. Arguably we were a better team when we bought cheaper players who fit in better with what Wenger was trying to do. Buying superstars was a terrible idea in hindsight. Developing players is what we should have committed to.

Crazy, Wenger is done.
This club has to move on.
He didn't help either. Wenger thought xhaka and mustafi were the answer and huge fricking signings for Arsenal.
I love Wenger, he would do better IMO with this team, but he's also responsible.
But, we can get a better manager than Arteta.
My b, saw your post about the xhaka mustafi after

But if you did that intentionally it’s actually pretty funny.
I agree with your rant.

He might have been, but at least we played well once in a while.
The same summer we signed Xhaka, Chelsea signed Kante. What a massive mistake to at least try and get Kante.

I forgot with the rant earlier, we paid $27 million dollars for a guy who has yet to play in the PL over two years lol.

shite performance, shite season. not going to place all the blame on Arteta, though he has made some questionable decisions. he’s probably in a job that’s too big for him, but I think it was well known/accepted that this would be a difficult period for us. Learning on the fly, trying to bring stability. Blame the manager, blame the owners, the board, whatever: the constant over the last several years is shite players.
Braud made a great point on the last page: the same shite has been happening for the last ~4 years. If Auba isn’t the worst striker in the league for 3 months, if ESR wasn’t injured half a season, if Martinelli didn’t hurt himself, if Willian wasn’t just collecting a paycheck, if Tierney wasn’t made of glass... etc etc. we’ve had some bad luck with injuries this season. That’s not an excuse though, we should be better than where we are.
I’m rambling because I’m still pissed off from today, but I’ll end it with this: how many of our XI from today’s lineup would be starting for the UCL finalists in two weeks (or United)? Honestly I’d say only two.
Simply put, top to bottom, the team isn’t good enough to be where we want to be. And I don’t think a new manager would turn these players into world beaters.

Na. The constant over the last 4 years is atrocious leadership. fricking atrocious atrocious leadership. The owners of this club are by far the biggest reason for this mess.
The absentee ownership which allowed Gazidis to hand pick Raul to become Director of Football. Raul essentially was the reason Mislintat left. Raul literally committed fraud and robbed the club. Pepe was originally valued at 45 million. Then goes for 72. Wtf? Then an owner who just Then hires a fricking weasel in Vinai who has been awful at the commercial side of things. Then an owner who hires Edu to replace Raul and is in cahoots with one of the worst agents in all of sports.
We hired a manager in Arteta that has turned out to be a self professed genius with not much to show for it. He is not good enough. And now we want to entrust him AND Edu to preside over our most important transfer window in club history? No thanks from the losers who brought Willian in on a 3 year deal and is the 3rd or 4th highest earner at the club. Willian because of Arteta destroyed Martinelli and Pepes playing time and Nelson's Arsenal career.
Arteta has also had fricking dire and arrogant man management. His treatment of Saliba, Pepe, Auba, etc... has been woeful. Remember when Willian went to Dubai and came back and immediately started? Pepe got a red and Arteta publicly blamed Pepe for the problems. Xhaka does it 3 weeks later and not a peep from Mr. Perfect.
Talk shite about the players but the quality of this squad is not 10th. We have a top 4 to 6 attack on paper. The manager has drilled their attacking freedom out of them. Telling a 4 person combo of Pepe, Saka, ESR, Auba, Laca, Odegaard, and Martinelli to express themselves in the Final 3rd would get us at least 2 goals a game but no let's not do that. Let's be #structured and have #techicalsecurity and punish attacking flair and threat.
Like I've said, imagine Arsene with those technical players at his disposal. Sure he had Auba and Laca but imagine him with ESR and Pepe and Saka and the one touch football.
Nah let's give Willian the 2nd most minutes for a winger this season. frick off
ETA: we have had shite players too like you mentioned

$33 million*
£27 million
But yeah our savior manager deemed Saliba not good enough for 10th placed Arsenal. Our savior deemed Rob Holding to be better.
Would have loved Saliba to learn from David Luiz this season and partner with Gabriel as they both speak French.
Our savior also deemed Willian to be better than Reiss Nelson and Martinelli. 4th highest paid player at the club Willian that is. Gotta show some respect to his name

In the case of Auba, assuming you mean the NLD, I can understand why he didn’t play. Can’t bend the rules for anyone including the captain.
Saliba debacle is so baffling to me. Rumors of his parent(s) dying over the summer, so maybe he wasn’t there mentally, but why didn’t we keep him here? Surely he could’ve came on in the league cup or Europa groups.
And your point of Nelson— I don’t mind the club bringing in an older experienced winger. In fact I love(d) the idea last summer (didn’t love the choice, though) just so Saka/Nelson/GM wouldn’t be forced to carry us all year. Unfortunately with Arteta sticking with Willian for so fricking long, it really did ruin Nelson’s Arsenal career. Maybe he isn’t “good enough” to be an arsenal player—okay, fine. Fair. But give him a chance. You’ve given a thousand opportunities to Nketiah, surely you could do the same for others

Yep. On the plus side I think missing Europe can help us trim the squad and get to a solid 18 to 20 players since it is all domestic next season.
Auba
Pepe
Martinelli
Smith Rowe
Saka
Partey
Tierney
Saliba
Gabriel
Leno* (have my doubts but he certainly is a top 6 GK)
All are good enough to be top 4 to 6 next season and Xhaka as a 3rd or 4th option too since we can't buy 4 CMs in one window and I certainly dgaf if he goes
Auba
Pepe/Martinelli-ESR-Saka
Partey-(Insert CM here)
Tierney-Gabriel-Saliba-(Insert new RB here)
That is a damn strong 11. Need 2 starters. A CM and a RB. I'm not joking when I say that I rather buy to CMs over a 10 and a CM. Saka and ESR can split the 10.
Xhaka and Laca can be role players but I think Laca is gone. My team above has great potential if they aren't coached to death on how to maintain a rigged attack.
Add Azeez, Balogun, and even Nelson if not sold and boom that is a solid 20 to 23. Literally fricking get rid of everyone else.
Sell:
Hector
Holding
Chambers
Cedric
Mari
Elneny
Laca
Nketiah
Willian the stupid fricking mercenary
Auba
Pepe
Martinelli
Smith Rowe
Saka
Partey
Tierney
Saliba
Gabriel
Leno* (have my doubts but he certainly is a top 6 GK)

Willock with another goal. Newcastle’s 2nd top scorer in the league this season
Posted on 5/9/21 at 3:42 pm to RebelVol
This is just another example. Willock is giving them late minutes and goals from midfield. How could that not have been his role at Arsenal?
It makes me think we are broken or extremely shitty of coaching up players outside of getting lucky that we found a few 19 year olds that were good.
