Because it took so long to pull him off I wonder if he had already been fired when he was apologizing

I can’t recall anyone in this situation who basically knew they’re were fired while still on air. Saying he doesn’t know if he’ll get back on a mic is something.

The egregiousness of the comment and the way things are today leave absolutely zero doubt of his fate.

There’s a zero percent chance he keeps this job.

Yep.

That wasn’t even “non-PC” or misunderstood - that was just a deliberate use of the word in the worst way it was intended

How mad is this guy’s wife right now?

All he had to do to remain employed until he was 90 years old was to wake up today and not point out the fig capital of the world on air.

And D’oh!

He did it.

I almost feel bad for the guy. Seeing someone realize the way they’ve paid the bills forever is likely over is tough to watch, particular the son of a HOF broadcaster.

He didn’t finish the game, did he? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone get fired mid-game.

He sounded sincere as hell

When you know it's the last game you'll ever work you might as well make it sound sincere.

Apparently he bowed out after the apology.

He was replaced in the 5th inning of game 2. I'm assuming he was calling the game from a studio in Cincinnati since it was a road game. The fill in guy was probably their post game host or something and was already there

I definitely feel bad for him. He’s only human, we all frick up from time to time.

His just happened to be very public and unintentionally hilarious.

I understand him not embracing it in the immediate aftermath, but he needs to go full heel. Get rip-roaring drunk tonight and wake up in two days with a podcast that would make Andrew Dice Clay blush. Apparently he’s got the content to do it.

It’d pay the bills

I’m sure they’re sucking each other off, but it’s about as bad of a hot mic moment as you’ll find. The context is dreadful.
