Ya know for all the bragging about being the 5th largest economy they sure do have alot of 3rd world problems. What other state in the US has this problem? It surely isn't a natural resource issue as Califirnia has large oil and gas reserves.

Once upon a time, in a communist land far away, I grew up with unexpected and unannounced electricity/heating stoppages and stoppages in availability of water, including hot water.
Because the communist dictator valued the populace so much and worked arduously for their well being, the people were never notified of upcoming stoppages, so inability to heat your home, flush the toilet or do laundry were well-established facts of life.
I've seen it, lived it and abandoned it! But the evil has reached the shores of CA.

The numbers are they are short over 4 Gigawatts. 4 Gigawatts!!
They retired around 9 between nat gas and nuclear. They retired double their current need. Retired for what? Solar (that is only good half of the day) and wind.
