I'd easily keep Williams over Frank if that was a decision to be made, which I don't see why it would be 1 or the other but you get the point.
Both are end-of-the-bench players who are likely unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Yes, it's possible that Frank could learn to play D. It's possible that Kenrich could learn to shoot 3s at a 40% clip.
But it's likely that both of them and Jah are always what they are: guys who earn about a minimum salary filling out a roster. Every team needs guys like them, because of the cap. The decisions about them are very minor and not worth discussing much.

I've seen a lot of people sat that shooting for the stars with upside is the way to go with the draft.

IF we can get Hassan Whiteside for very cheap, I think he would be a solid addition to fill the C spot for 10 minutes or so. His skillset is all we really need there, the problem is he's a headcase. Maybe he's been humbled in Portland though.

Hope we go after Justin Holiday and Aron Baynes. Baynes would be a good fit next to Zion as he can play on the perimeter and Holiday would give us a good backup defensive 2/3.

Yeah Baynes would be a very good fit.
Some UFA's that stand out to me:
Hassan Whiteside
Tristan Thompson
Aron Baynes
Mason Plumlee
Meyers Leonard
Serge Ibaka
Paul Millsap
MontrezI Harrell
Juan Hernangomez
Harry Giles
Derrick Jones Jr
Danilo Gallinari
Davis Bertans
Mo Harkless
Jae Crowder
Joe Harris
Marco Belinelli
Bryn Forbes
Furkan Korkmaz
Jeff Teague
Shabazz Napier

There's no doubt he's a block chaser who gets out of position often in doing so, but I think he could be a good cheap option that eat up a few minutes against the Jokic/Nurkic/Ayton's of the league. Looking at the list of FA, I do think I would prefer Tristan Thompson over him though.

So what do y’all think about Chris Finch? He’s kind of unknown, but do you think he could be a good head coach?

Trey Burke would be a nice off the bench PG that will come cheap.

Thought about starting its own thread but I guess I'll just do this here.
Crewz brought up today this next offseason and season possibly being a "step back year".
Basically trading guys like Jrue and possibly JJ for assets to contenders. The West is going to be absolutely brutal.
Load up on future assets, let guys like Zion, Hayes, Didi, NAW, Draft Picks get to play more minutes. Focus on getting experience, growing with the new coach, and storing assets for the next big move.
May not have to worry about attendance or any of that for parts of the season, so it may be more about growth and not having to worry about selling fans.

Other than the coaching situation, the Jrue situation intrigues me. I go back and forth on whether I think Griffin would trade him. I lean towards him not trading him although I think that if we could get good value, it may be better for the team long-term.

The issue I see with keeping Jrue is that you will never give guys like NAW and Didi the opportunity to see if they can play and develop. If they can’t get consistent playing time, it’ll be hard for them to build up confidence and learn by playing through their mistakes, tough stretches, slumps, etc.
We really need to give these young guys the opportunity to see if u can build around these young guys.

Man I would just hate to see Jrue on another team making our starting guards look like absolute baffoons

He's a great dude. A good lockerroom presence.
But if you can get above value for him in this summer (and given the weak FA class, I think you can), then you have to pull that trigger.

I see what you are saying, but in pro sports, to be the man you have to beat the man. If NAW etc is going to develop, he has to force his way to the top.

Jrue needs to go to a contending team. We owe him that much. Preferably back in the east. Jrue getting traded doesn’t affect the Pelicans timeline. It’s more important to find a third guy for Zion and BI right now. Redick should be traded as well at the deadline when teams are looking for a championship piece. It’s time to stop the “competing“ charades and start building and developing young players.
Jrue and Redick did their jobs showing these kids how to be a pro. It’s time for them to put in the work and prove that they have what it takes to be quality players.

Crewz mentioned the Nets, which would be a really good fit IMO.

I’m not opposed to keeping him or trading him. As long as we get good assets for him. If we do trade him we definitely need to hope Vassell falls to us
Posted on 8/12/20 at 1:09 pm to Fun Bunch
The nets would be the best case scenario since they have assets to offer. Levert or Dinwiddie and a 2021 first would be a dream.
Posted on 8/12/20 at 1:12 pm to supe12sta12z
I think you ask for a pick down the road with the Nets, 3 years or so. If they have Jrue, Kyrie, DJ and Durant, a 2021 pick is going to be in the late 20s at best.
