Question for the tech savvy on this board.

I’ve been seeing a lot of GOP and DNC commercials on U-tube for Senate donations.
I’ve been skipping the GOP like I do all commercials, because why wouldn’t you if given the choice.
But I’ve been letting the DNC ones play to the end on the assumption that it will cost them more money.
Is this correct?

I would assume they buy placements. Not spend on the length each video plays. Your theory sounds stupid (no offense), but that’s just my random person opinion.

It's really not a tech question. It just a question for someone that has experience advertising with youtube.

My understanding is the host gets more money and the advertiser pays more if you watch the entire ad. If you skip the ad, the host gets less money and the advertiser pays less.

That was always my understanding (though I have no first-hand knowledge, so could be wrong).
Have actually been doing the same thing myself (letting democrat ads play out to cost them more).

I have no idea.
If I had to guess, I would say the opposite.
If they see that viewers are watching the entire commercial they would assume that it is grabbing viewer attention and is effective.
If they see commercials getting skipped then that would be labeled ineffective and cause the
advertiser to spend more money developing a replacement commercial.

A viewer has to watch 10 seconds of an ad for the advertiser to be charged.
Edit: But there just isn't one way to advertise on YouTube, so that's if they're using the regular TruView that most people use.

I’m surprised that they didn’t have it set up to where you had to watch the full DNC ad.
