Gas station attendees locking the doors and hiding out during business hours

Is this a {{southern thing}} or what? I get skrong ice cream 'schine be broke feelings about this.
On the rare occasion that an employee might be visible and respondent, asking for a bottle of water turns into a surly arse hostage negotiation conducted through the window deposit box.

I’ve never seen this. They probably just needed to use the bathroom and we’re the only ones on duty.

I've only seen that in horrible parts of town. Here in lake charles never. But, Beaumont and lafayette I've seen it. Definitely Northside Lafayette. It's weird with the outside window deal, cause it feels like you're in Detroit or something and you end up in a 10 person line. In what you might not have known was the worst part of the city.

Saw this in south monroe about 5 years ago. Walked up to the door just after 4 democrats were pulling away. The cashier walked up to the door and unlocked it, watching the car leave. "I wouldn't gonna allow them robbers in." I looked back to see my truck rolling backwards...I left it in neutral....fastest I've ran in years. Got it stopped without damage. I go back to store and the lady was laughing..."I thought I had scared you!"

The new racetrack station on highland near I-10 does this all the time.

All the fricking time. The shell by my house does this when the girl has to take a shite. I can understand her pain, but get in and pinch that thing off quick. There’s a line of people outside while your scrolling through Facebook.
