"The XFL has been sold to a group that includes former WWE star Dwayne “The Rock’’ Johnson, giving the bankrupt football league the kind of star power that may draw even non-sports fans."
Potentially good news.
Still think each team needs a different owner.

TO FOOTBALL!!!!
If you need anyone to cut a promo to get people interested in tuning in, that would be your guy. Hopefully they keep this league going longer this time

Yeah, I had to Google XFL just to make sure there was more to this story than what's on Sportico

Believe Sportico is owned/operated by the same people who run Politico. It's a legit sports business site, and Scott Soshnick is a legit journalist - I think he used to write a sports business column for Bloomberg.

I'll withhold my thoughts till I see what the jersey messaging looks like.

This is a work right? Are we leading to a Rock vs Vince McMahon match at the 50 yard line for ownership?

Another possibility is that this is part of the most lit episode of "Ballers" ever.

I’d absolutely watch a game with two teams battling for ownership

Make them stand Rock! The people on the board needs sports without politics!

I believe MLS started with central ownership and over a number of years, moved to independent owners.
If the XFL, or any spring football league, can get to MLS level of support, it will be fine.
I still think spring football's best chance of success is as a development league model affiliated with NFL teams.
NFL shut down NFL Europe because it was losing 30 million a year. I feel like, if NFL used it to get players ready, experiement with rules and officiating changes, etc, 30 million a year would be an easy investment. It might even be cheaper if it were held in the states again.
8 teams with 4 NFL affiliations per team... I think it could work. But I don't see the NFL doing it for some reason.

It says RedBird has made several other NFL investments before, anyone know what?

XFL needs to do 6 teams here and 6 in Europe.
