When's the last time gov't banned the use of a legal drug for treatment of an illness?

When is the last time that government has banned the off label use of a drug that is still legal to treat a widespread illness?

The HCQ bans seem pretty bold.

Uncle Sam doesn’t care for that reefer very much. Just think.... the whole reason why weed is illegal is because some crazy racist decided to go on a propaganda spree spreading all kinds of craziness about weed.

Are you refering to the Ohio ban, or nationwide, or what? There are 50 states. I read that Ohio banned it recently. If it works, someone should really put politics aside and prove it.

Or they could put politics aside and not ban the off label use or threaten doctors with administrative action if they prescribe it.

The onus should be on the government to prove that it’s bad for public health, not for doctors to prove that something that is already legal should continue to be legal.

HCQ has been in use since 1955 when it was first approved by the FDA. Only now is it so bad it can't be prescribed by physicians? HCQ is a very inexpensive treatment option when compared to Remdesivir whick goes for up to $ 3000 a treatment.

Follow the money somebody is making a lot of money off this. The Big Pharmaceutical Lobbyist in Government are very very powerful..

It wasn't banned but the FDA muddied up the water with cautions of side effects (based on 4X actual dosage needed)

JBE banned pharmacies from filling scripts for CV. You can get it from telemedicine across state lines for CV

Idk but what’s funny is a doctor could technically prescribe cocaine still but not this because OMB. Also frick them until it’s schedule 1 they can’t tell a doctor what the frick to do.

Do you guys on the left ever tire of being slaves to your ideology? You would think at some point some personal pride would kick in and you would want to think for yourselves. It's fricking gross

There are already several studies that show it to be effective when given early. Many come from foreign countries. Just admit that you don't support it because OMB. At least you could retain a little dignity that way, not that you people care about anything but the cause. You losers would kill your own mother if it helped to make Trump look bad.

the off label use

Doctors do this all the time with other medications. I was prescribed an anti-seizure medication for sciatica.

Not easy to support HCQ’s use as a Covid preventative when DJT is re-tweeting alien dna doctor.
