Agreed, but the reasonable person standard is going to become less predictable when the person who is killed is wearing a tac vest and carrying an AK.

That's just the reality. And while I (like most 2A people) hate it when media and lefties cry about scary looking weapons, it's hard to disagree with the notion in some circumstances.

I'm about as pro-2A as they come, but if 3 douchey looking kids in all black come into McDonalds with ARs while my kid with me, I'm certainly going to be apprehensive to some extent. I'd probably guess that they're "on my side" but we're living in bizarre times.

In short - your margin for error is less in these situations, regardless of your intentions.

Also, what happened in Austin did not happen in a vaccum. It is a fair assumption that the guy has been following the news of late, both local and national, and knew good and well the chances of something very bad happening to him if that crowd got him out of the car.
