Lewis Neal - Under Rated DE

Lewis Neal was one of the better DE LSU has fielded in the last 20 years yet gets little credit. He only started his Jr. and Sr. year yet had 118 career tackles, 12 sacks and 17 TFL. Played behind Hunter and Rasco his first two years.

I agree I guess lol but why today Lewis?

He was a very good player at LSU. I always liked him. Very nice guy as well

Shortest DE I can remember. Really makes you think about what Trindon could have done
But for real, Lewis was a solid contributor. That dude was strong as an ox.

He was really good then they tried to make him something that he wasn’t

I get where you're going with this, but his senior year when aranda came in he was going to get a lot more playing time bulking up to play DE than play rush OLB because Arden Key exploded in 2016 there with 12 sacks.
Not sure he would have been agile enough to play the OLB spot opposite of Key either, so DE in the 3-4 made the most sense to get him on the field in that scenario

Dude was warrior even though he was small for DLineman

Yep. He was a good one that Les found in North Carolina.
I think there was another good player that we got from North Carolina, but I can’t remember who he was.

maybe, i know he did what was best for the team but ive seen him take issue with it after he left LSU.
It wasn't so much the position change, it was the weight gain to what was an already compact frame. He was never the same.

I don’t agree with this. He was fair, and he was a warrior with a lot of heart, but he was below the average DE we’ve had over the last 20 years.

Wasn’t he the one who was making big money in the stock market??

He was just a great kid. Very smart. He started his own investment firm while he played at LSU. Always vastly undersized but strong as a bull and had heart.

Very low center of gravity. Got under the OT very well. Good motor. Thankful for his service.

Didn’t he own a barber shop or something?

I think he’s rated correctly.

That is Marlon Favorite. If Lewis was white he would be considered a high motor guy.
