re: So why don’t we legalize cannabis?

The only issue I have with legalization is the increase of airway cancers risk. The rise in health related costs due to wider prevalence of smoking pot has to be mitigated somehow.

Come on man. There are many other ways to consume cannabis than smoking.

Sure so if we leave smoking it illegal and you can eat all the brownies, gummies, lollipop pops, etc you want I’m good.

Not to you Aubie specifically A...but if Trump were to "legalize", I.e., promote - weed...the Evangelical Vote would stay home.
I grew 14 footers back when; drove up to my house one day and those stalks were sticking out of the trunk of a State Police car. I had quit by then, but before that...I was on the verge of 'taking a stand' against any government official that accosted me, for doing something that affected only my own body and mind. Came within an inch of going over a line that would have altered my life in a major way.
There are two ways of perceiving Reality...the Worldly (real) version...and the Subjective/Spiritual, malleable version. The very basis for ALL Civilization and Culture, is based on BOTH of these perceptional Bases. Drugs of different sorts can open individual's perception to the abstract (Subjective/Spiritual) version, as the World version is woefully apparent to all; struggle to live and proper...and die.
Our current Culture/Civilization is struggling to understand, synthesize and employ Knowledge of these two Perceptive Bases, in ways that enable "the pursuit of happiness". Happiness being of a Spiritual nature. "Man does not live by bread alone...". Very true. And the Kids know it, instinctively. They know whether their Parents are really happy or not; whether or not they have true love in their hearts. No Love...no happy.
There was a time when I believed that at a given age, every single young individual should employ a drug, food-fast, Religious/Spiritual Ceremony, or some technique to open their Perception to the Spiritual Perspective. (War or Natural calamity can affect Perception as well.) Most Civilizations followed this principle; and many survived far longer than our own relatively short - and likely short-lived - Worldly-based current Civilization model. The Native American Culture existed on this Continent for Millennia; maybe they saw no reason for 'progress'. Maybe their Vision/Feeling was exceptional; no way that abstract quantity can be recorded in a history book; or related/transmitted. If it ain't broke...don't fix it. Today...'Koyaanisqatsi'.
"To the pure, all things are pure". "There is a time, for all things". "Where there is no Vision...my people die". Wisdom. It is not "the letter of the law" that matters, in the greater and current Perceptive/Civilization/Vision scenario. It is the Spirit that will ultimately determine both the Worldly and Spiritual success or failure of our Civilization. If it is broke...fix it. Tall order. Might be a bridge too far, for a relatively dysfunctional people to reach. Whatever it takes...we'll get there.
Rant over.

Would you be okay with your 15 yr. old Daughter smoking weed, DG?
There are things that me and you can do, that will cause us no harm, because we will not succumb to the negative aspects therein. But there are some people, who will view our own 'immunity' from said negative forces, as a personal license to indulge their own (perhaps inability) license to indulge. And they will be negatively affected.
The Good Book calls this "casting a stumbling block in the path of the weaker brethren". Not saying any person who is inclined to accept a civic responsibility burden is superior, other than serving their own personal conscience. Just saying that there are some things that a parent can do - and endorse - and there are things that they should no do (endorse)...for love's sake.
I don't smoke any more; but sure don't begrudge someone who does. Lord knows I enjoyed more than my share; and honestly, learned/saw 'abstract' things that I would otherwise not be able to 'see'.
Whatever.
The answer is our government is filled with Boomers like this.

Add Federal, State, and Municipal police departments, Corrections Officer unions, food service and garment cleaning industries with fat prison contracts.
Millions of Americans profit off the increasing incarceration of their fellow citizens. It's fricking sickening.

Substantive argument, E...or just the above?

If Boomers say it's bad, it must really be good.

Notice the only thing that is now legal in La is only dispensed at a few pharmacies in the state and the grower AND middle man is the state gov itself.

I would be happy to just see it solve all the issues it's illegality has created.

Correct me if I am wrong, but removing it from a schedule would then stop testing on drug tests dictated by the Fed's, correct?

Wondering why you aren't just toking up at home.

Edibles are overrated. Vape cartridges are where it's at.

If your 15 year old wants to smoke weed he or she will smoke weed. Its everywhere. Atleast if legal people would buy from more reputable places and it would cut down on crime eventually and it would probably be safer as well.

It's pure extract. Usually 76% thc the rest CBD. The good ones have zero additives.

I just smoked some "legal" cannabis . For those who say it will drive out the cartels/big pharma, I wish I had a street dealer instead of paying what I do "legally".
