WSM vs pellet grill

What do you think makes a better product?
ETA: The reason I ask is because I am considering getting a master built gravity and I feel like it is combo of both the pellet and WSM. I think it will give flavor, smoke ring, etc of a WSM with the ease of pellet. If pellet is better then I may just go that route.

You would need to buy a pellet grill 3 times more expensive than a Weber Smokey mountain to get the same quality of cook

That’s the thread that got me thinking

Pellet grill for convenience
WSM for flavor and cooking experience
Don't get me wrong, the pellet grill comes in handy on those long overnight cooks or when you don't have the time to monitor the temp.
But if you do have time, then 99% of the fun of smoking is babysitting it while putting down some cold beverages.

Ok so that is what I was wondering was strictly flavor. If the WSM has a better a better flavor I may invest in the masterbuilt gravity series since it seems like the best of both world as far as ease of pellet but flavor profile of a WSM.

Buddy has a Traeger and I honestly can't tell a huge difference in flavor from something smoked on a traditional smoker. Maybe he's just really good at prepping it or something.

Many, if not most people won't be able to tell any difference, so the convivence factor of pellet (and electric, and to some degree ceramic) makes it a great choice for a lot of people.
However, for those who know it is a different story. At the same time convenience and time matter too. In a perfect world I would have a low-mid level competition quality stick burner, a kettle, small weber gas, and maybe a pellet grill and/or large ceramic, but my deck and bank account can only support so much.

Regarding the “not enough smoke” comment: If you get a smoke tube, fill it up, and burn at both ends, you will have all the smoke flavor you want. That will burn for about 2 hours. I refill and burn at both ends 2 or 3 times.
