think it's because you can still carry a slight but detectable viral load outside of 14 days but not be contagious. I mean, if he wanted to perpetuate the covid/shutdown wouldn't he be saying the opposite?

So non-sick people aren't likely to infect others, and yet we still have to wear a mask?

No, you mouth breather. There is a shortage of tests and a stress on medical personnel. He is trying to alleviate that by adding unnecessary tests to the process.

Some employers or requiring employees to test negative before returning to work, we are strongly against that practice.."Most of the public, once test positive should be symptom free for at least 3 days 10 days after the positive test, that should be all they need to return to work"

Well since he doesn't write our company's safety policies, I'll still have to wait to test negative before returning!

That’s the CDC guideline. Not JBE’s rule.

What if I never had any symptoms and still tested positive? And what if I tested positive on the 14th day and on day 15 was negative?

It’s fricking stupid

It’s all a moving target

ETA: I’m gonna avoid it all by not testing with or without symptoms

Businesses are not going to like that liability

JBE said in the presser that any business in the state has immunity from civil liability from employees and customers as long as they are complying with state requirements and cdc guidelines.

and last week he said you should quarantine for 14 days even if you test negative.

10 days return to work.

Was it 10 days from symptom onset or initial positive test? If so, then go back to work.

It’s based on the timetable of potential transmissibility.

Only if you have a direct contact exposure

That is still the guideline from the CDC.
It’s been that since April.

never had symptoms...was forced to take a test...test was positive....no telling how long I was positive..then decided to test again the very next day with a rapid test and tested negative

btw, this is all hypothetical....I never tested much less tested positive.

Friend of mine had a child test positive. Symptoms lasted for 36 hours or so and he was clear after 10 days as it had been far more than 72 hours symptom free. My friend received a call from a contract tracer stating that he and his wife should start their 14 day quarantine when the child completed quarantine. That would have been 24 days total. The tracer was told that is not going to happen.

That’s the issue with family transmission/direct contact.

You are basically susceptible to infection for 14 days after a direct exposure and then contagious for 10 days after symptom onset AND three days after symptoms subside.

So if you are on ongoing direct contact with the person above, then you would be at risk of infection for 14 days following their last day of potential contagiousness.

It’s a mess

Why is this so hard to comprehend?

You wait until 3 days after you no longer have symptoms, but this has to be at least 10 days after you tested positive.

My point about it being so stupid is what if you never show symptoms
