no, it's florida. The deal with Kentucky is that they opted out because they have a set schedule because they are really trying to get in to the D-2 level of the NCAA from what we heard. All the other SEC team joined though

I'm convinced that Alleva will push for a men's lacrosse team at LSU. Just a hunch.

Asked him about that...he said LSU has enough sports, no need to expand the program. I don't agree...would love to see lacrosse AND hockey, but Aleve said no expansion of the program.

I know this topic is a few days old, but LSU Hockey made it over to the Fark Board regarding what their uniforms are like, producing the following results:

Since you're actually affiliated with the team, I'll take your word for it. I'm guessing that the FSU reference in the Tiger Weekly must have been an error (LINK ).

Friday I asked the Fark board to do an LSU Ice Hocke y uniform. yurintroubl did a great job of a goalie in purple & gold! Might get some folks really fired up! Go take a look.

No, Kentucky though plays at a high level of the ACHA and most likely has the best "SEC" club team. It would take a gift and endowment of tens of millions of dollars to start varsity hockey at any SEC school. Kentucky plays a good level of club hockey and would most likely join the CCHA if it ever went varsity in Hockey. Ohio State, Michigan State, Bowling Green, Michigan, Notre Dame, Alaska, and other Michigan schools play in the ccha.

CCHA

Sad, but true. We're trying o rebuild our current facilites while some want to spend millions on a hockey team that would likely only lose us money.

As far as drawing fans, winning does that for any sport...once it is an established and accepted program, they would draw a good crowd. People simply love their Tigers, so there is no doubt in my mind they could build a good fan base in BR. Very few schools draw a massive amount of people. Notre Dame played in the national championship for hockey and their rink only holds 2667; you do have your exceptions such as Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Nebraska-Omaha, but MOST schools have rinks that hold less than 5,000 people.

as a proud bc hockey fan(national champs btw ) i'd welcome a scrimmage between lsu and bc.

It seems to me that men's soccer should be the next varsity sport in SEC. Vandy, South Carolina, and Kentucky all already have varsity teams... but since the SEC requires 4 teams in order to have an official soccer tournament, USC and Kentucky joined C-USA.

I would love to see LSU field a men's soccer team...what is the hold up? Is Title IX about teams or scholarships?

Yes.

Actually, both I think. Aaaaaaaaand...ratio of male to female students enrolled may have something to do with it also. At LSUE they must have more female sports than male sports because there are more girls enrolled there than boys...hence girls basketball and softball for the girls and only baseball for the boys...2 TIME J.C. NATIONAL CHAMPS...To add boys basketball, they would have to add a third girls sport...volleyball or soccer seem likely...and there's even some foolishness about having to build a separate gym for the boys team because of the time team practice and games would take away from non athlete student use of the gym!

More 411 than you were axin' for...but just sayin'!

The resounding first impression that every close-minded Tiger fan gets from the LSU hockey team is that LSU hockey is a leach on lucrative sports....

1) LSU hockey is a club level program. We don't even get enough money the WHOLE year to afford an hour of ice time. EVERYTHING comes out of our pockets and donations, which DOES NOT include TAF. If you want to make a case for VARSITY sports leaching off of lucrative sports, please do, but don't keep assuming that the Hockey team get's sack fulls of money to use at our discretion.

2) Just because you aren't a self proclaimed guru in the sport like you are in football, doesn't mean you have to put down the idea of hockey at LSU.
