This is a good point. The media consider the US to be on par with other OECD countries and if Florida has tens of thousands of cases a day and rising when a country like Germany with 4 times the population has about 200, the story the news is going to cover isn't going to be "Florida is still kinda doing ok".

I still think (and nate silver agrees with me) that you have to take into account how geographically large america is. You were never going to see our country get hit at the same time and recover at the same time
Florida, arizona, CA, and TX are going to eventually have the same looking curves as NY (much smaller peaks though) and europe.

Germany isn’t testing asymptomatic patients. We will likely test more people this week than Germany has ever tested.
