Anyone live in Coeur d’Alene or have any direct knowledge to share? Obviously a beautiful summer destination but on our list of move options.

Only been there once in the summer. It was great. Absolutely beautiful city and surroundings.

I know very little about the area but I’m at Twin Lakes outside Rathdrum currently.....having a ball btw .
If you can get acclimated to the winter I think it would be a great place to retire.

Not to hijack but I’ve never heard of this place. Is it the Idaho version of Bend Oregon?

Thanks a lot! I’m in Alexandria as well.

Beautiful area. Low elevation (2500') but winters are harsher than southern Idaho. Gets much more rain than the rest of the state. Forests are dense and wet - almost like a rain forest. It really resembles Washington more than it does Idaho. July and August are typically pretty nice.
If you like skiing, Schweitzer is a nice resort. Silver mountain is not bad. Lookout pass is great for beginners. They used to offer free lessons for new skiers.
Couer d'Alene (CDA) is the big city in northern Idaho (~45k people). This is a logging hub. Sandpoint is the uppity resort town an hour north. Tons of lakes in the area if you have a boat. Was at Priest Lake for the 4th and it was fabulous.
Unfortunately, the mass evacuations from the west coast states are affecting this region as well. Less so California, but tons of Spokane and Seattle residents moving to northern Idaho. With them comes bad things like traffic, littering, ridiculous real estate prices, and bad attitudes.

Hey! If you ever need any info message me at eg_cross@yahoo.com. From there I can give you my better contact info. I'm a realtor up here in CDA and originally from Louisiana. It's great up here in my opinion and the winters are not near as bad as the mid-west. Quality of life is off the charts. Let me know if you ever need anything. Thank you

I always heard it was a beautiful area and not long ago I was watching Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and Guy shows up at this place there. Food looked amazing and that Giant Caramel Pecan Roll they make is worth the trip. Coeur d’Alene is a city on my list I would love to visit.

That’s a good time of the year to come for sure. Won’t be quite as crowded with the summer traffic it’s still really nice out. Be glad to give y’all a tour.

A few things that should make you smile....
Last Christmas I saw a nativity scene at the Couer D'Alene Marina resort. The only time I EVER see one is at my moms house.
On the 4th there's a group of boats on Twin Lakes that does a parade. People were dressed up like George Washington etc, someone as the Statue of Liberty.
Lots of costumes, and very enthusiastic about loving America.
I took some drone pics I'll load tomorrow of the Upper Twin Lake.
Several houses for sale...

Spokane is a short drive, so you are near convince. Winter are brutal compared to what we are used to. Fantastic outdoor activities.

Just go in understanding that that's a great time for someone from the south to visit, as in fall colors and milder fall weather. You need to make sure you visit there in the winter and spring so you get the bad weather also.
