Going to be a hoot watching those players/coaches wearing BLM patches in a stadium named for a racist, that sits on a street named after said racist, and repeating the 7 maxims written by a racist.

Bryant, Dye, Rupp and others also listed.

The football stadium at the University of Tennessee, Neyland Stadium, is named for a former coach who refused to compete against college teams with Black players. Robert Neyland, who was Tennessee’s football coach and an administrator until 1962, also “verbally abused” a Black student for attempting to try out for the basketball team, the project report said.

These people are going to kill collegiate sports. What was the story about the goose and the golden egg?

Don't support the athletes that hate you.

Football needs to wither on the vine.

Players way more likely to be killed by somebody they know, or in their cohort, than by a cop or white person.

I'm confused, did not Bryant finally integrate Alabama football....was he not the first in the SEC to do it?

Did you read the actual "journal article"? They don't like the name Kyle Field at aTm because the namesake is "racist through ties to the Confederacy" because his father was a CSA captain. Not the person that the stadium was named after, but his father.

Pat Dye is racist towards student athletes because the coaching staff discouraged interracial dating in a small Alabama town in the 1980s? It wasn't forbidden, but discouraged.

It does seem like it wasnt very smart to name a street and stadium after a man who refused to compete against black players..

I'm sure he wasnt a fan of recruiting them either.

Your concerns have zero to do with the subject matter.

That's by design. Sports are a unifying activity, can't have that nowadays, you're supposed to hate your neighbors and family.

Doesn't matter what you evolved into. Only what you were.

Troy Middleton changed, but alas .....

It is not very smart to apply one era's norms to prior ones.

The "subject matter" is bullshite but you be you.

Never thought I would write this, but my interest in CFB is beginning to wane. I do not follow recruiting, position, and team updates as closely.

Sincerely hope the flame is rekindled as the season grows near, if it even does that with Covid malarkey.

Nate Northington at UK is credited as the first black football player in the SEC in 1967...

Wilbur Jackson was the first scholarship black athlete at Alabama in 1970... There were others that competed on the practice squad starting in 1967...

China is racist. China has systemic power. Let’s worry about the political party with Han racial supremacy as a wide held belief and stop worrying about dead Americans. This is all so stupid.

It does not stop until this country and everything you might hold dear is fundamentally transformed right before your eyes... OR "we" finally stand up and call bullshite...

Ive found I’m not missing sports as much as I thought I would and getting to where I’m not real fond of the people running the universities, coaches or players.. guess I had a false assumption that sports were unifying. My dream retirement was Saturday afternoons in the fall following my team to different venues now I’m finding myself thinking about the coast and learning to sail for my upcoming retirement.

I hope so.

Let the Pro's fund their own farm teams like they do in Baseball

We need to stop with the historical figures being racist. I don't know many that weren't. Blacks included which are the most racist today.

The real problems of today are placism not racism. Its hard to climb the economic ladder but the democratic party who you think would want make it easier are trying to make it harder. Increasing taxes and regulation even on the rich hurt the poor by making it harder to climb the ladder. All the Dems do is make it harder to succeed not easier.
