Agreed. I guess the book goes into a lot more detail about his erratic behavior and the case for suicide. It is totally plausible he jumped...jumping off at 11mph would have been enough to carry him out to where the hole ended up being.

The guy in episode 1 was certainly not completely normal based on a lot of the details. Why did they not get a physicist involved to detail the jump/hole? Something like that can easily be proved or disproved. Should also be Incredibly easy to determine if a flying body created that hole or not or if it was man made.

Yep, I believe a running start (even in flip flops) could've carried him to that spot being how high he was. He was probably aiming for the windows (like the movie) and overshot. Also, people aren't talking about the surface of that roof when mentioning that the glasses and phone were unharmed; the material used almost feels like padding of sorts (it's soft and gives). That could definitely account for how a well made pair of glasses and that brick of a phone weren't busted to pieces on impact.
