Rental Car Accident Scenario thoughts

One of my employees' sister's was hit by a rental car that was driven by someone other than who rented the car, and the driver was killed.
The rental car company is claiming no fault, and that's likely correct? I'm assuming if the driver had insurance for another vehicle, there should be some coverage? I think it was someone in their 20s, so likely not worth much and not much else to chase. I have a feeling she is probably screwed?

this is when uninsured motorist comes into play, protect yourself, and remember that if you have an umbrella policy to include uninsured motorist on that as well, you have to ask for it and it costs more but protect yourself

She should also check out the person who rented the car - they may have their own insurance coverage as well

You should be able to go after the person who rented the car and let unauthorized person drive the vehicle

Go after the manufacturer of the vehicle too.

Yup, sue everyone. The louisiana way.

Sue the person who allowed the driver to drive. Could be coverage there as well

If the person driving the vehicle (deceased) had full coverage, you may be able to get something out of it. Your insurance covers you, even if you are driving someone else's vehicle. Should be the same with the rental.

Many credit cards provide insurance coverage when renting a vehicle. Worth a shot exploring this option
