Can you show me this writing?
You know that I did not mean such a policy was literally written on a wall, right?

If that was the case they wouldn't not even be trying to play in the fall
What indications do you see that the schools are trying to play in the fall? All I see is the schools and conferences kicking the can down the road and lowering expectations.

Hopefully, they give fans the opportunity to decline to attend first. If they say attendance is limited to, say 15,000 people, I'd have no interest in going. It would be more fun to watch on TV.
If I were in charge of this process, and I'm not, here's what I'd do:
1. I'd give every season ticket holder the opportunity to opt-out for the entirety of the season without harming their saved seat locations. This would then give you the total # of season ticket holders you need to worry about doing further filtering.
2. I'd look at how many seats are being requested, and review the scenarios that are being considered, such as:
- Full capacity option: In this scenario, by priority ranking, I'd give people a chance to opt-in to better seats for one year based on who has backed out in #1. Then, once that dust settles, we can open up to additional ticket sales.
- Limited capacity options: In these scenarios, based on the # of seats we can fill, ticket packages can be created to allow each season ticket holder the option to select the games they want to attend, based somewhat on priority. OR, create different packages and do a lottery of some sort. Once these packages are offered, you can then opt-in or opt-out. After opt-out, you can then sell the empty seats.
At no point in time should anyone who does not want to attend be forced to eat the cost of the tickets or be penalized for 2021 tickets. If I want my money back, I should be able to get it -- I'm okay with the consequences associated with my priority ranking.
In order to do any of this...they have to start planning now. So, my judgment is that if they are deferring seat relocations until August, it's because they are planning on people having an option to opt-out, regardless of planned max capacity.

Start all the games at halftime. Problem solved.

So you take the NCAA and schools coming up with a plan on action of when, and how, to proceed as kicking the can down the road and not trying to play? You are simply just a pessimist. You don't have any more information than any of us do as to whether football will, or won't be, played. You are choosing to take it and think of the worst case scenarios.

Where are these plans? I'd like to see them.

Last flu season didn’t kill 127000 and counting!

Most scientists and doctors think there will be an available ready to go vaccine or multiple vaccines by Dec/Jan. It has been all over all news networks the last month and especially the last week. Dr. Fauci said just yesterday that the most likely scenario is that vaccines then are 75% effective. Other scientists have said even at 50% effective, it is a game changer. The US has already ordered 300 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The president of course says there will be a vaccine/vaccines then or sooner. THAT is what is different about the Spring (plus much better weather for LSU fans and full crowds, bands, tailgating)

If you really want there to be any chance for attendance at games or any season at all then wear masks, social distance and wash your hands. It’s not a political issue, it’s a public health Issue. It’s just common sense.

I mean almost no way is tiger stadium at full capacity, especially bc you can’t really regulate masks with concessions.
Let's just storm the gates every game. Make them stop us.

Use priority points just like for bowl and away games.

you allow all fans an opportunity at a handful of games instead of entire season package
Like it or not, this is probably a scenario being explored.

Hey hack. Why you ran away from getting owned in your troll thread on poli board?

I really don't understand why they can't do the normal upgrade process and then wait to figure out what to do about letting people into the stadium. I hope I'm wrong but I fear that we won't be able to upgrade this year at all.

You don't understand why the ticket office may not want to bother with this effort, including taking payment from people and potentially refunding payments later, if they can just do it later on once they know the plan?
I said it earlier -- I really think the smartest course of action would be to allow anyone to opt-out if they want while retaining rights to their seats in 2021, and then do the upgrade process and/or ticket package assignments once they've made capacity decisions.
No sense in doing this exercise if it's going to be thrown out in a few weeks.

So u are saying that if someone chooses to not attend games this year due to the covid 19 situation but still wishes to retain their rights for their seats that those people don't have a right to upgrade their season tickets for better seats when they are able to attend?
Season ticket upgrades and the ability or willingness to attend games during this covid 19 pandemic are 2 completely different things. I don't feel like they should be lumped together. I'm calling bs on not being allowed to upgrade regardless of whether or not i plan to attend the games.
For the record I have 12 season tickets, all of which are paid for in full. I plan on attending all games if i am allowed to do so.

Actually, I didn't say anything about that.
I just said that the first step should be to cull out anyone who opts out for 2020 only, beyond anyone who simply chose not to renew. Let's say of 80,000 season ticket holders that opens up 15,000 seats. Now, when you are doing seat relocations and upgrades, you potentially have the ability to offer one-time upgrades OR permanent upgrades, depending on the situation.
If you do upgrades now...and THEN do the opt-out for Covid 19, you will then potentially create a scenario where you are offering the same people who just picked upgrades another chance to upgrade again.
What's the point of doing it now?

I understand what u are saying but I don't think that your scenario would work. I think there will still need to be a 2nd upgrade or seating assignment to maximize social distancing in the stadium. Assuming that they put capacity limits in place, they are going to have to space everyone out as best as they can. In that scenario people will almost assuredly be sitting in someone else's seats. It would be a 1 off type situation just for this season.
For example... you have 4 season tickets and you want to attend. Stadium capacity is set at 25% . To maximize social distancing you are assigned section 301, row 15, seats 1, 5, 9 & 13. Every 4th seat. The row infront and behind u would be seated in seats 3, 7, 11, 15 or something like that. You wouldn't keep those seating assignments in a normal full capacity situation. Obviously there are a bunch of ways to do it but the fact of the matter is that its gonna be a real mess if they limit capacity.
I completely understand that doing a regular upgrade and doing another covid seating assignment is going to be more work but I really don't see how it could be done any other way without screwing some season ticket holders out of upgrades.
