It’s not a sham, but the reaction to the virus was certainly overstated and the people hollering for continued shutdowns lost all credibility when they refused to condemn the protests/riots.

The response has been a sham since day1.
Entire classes should be taught and books written on how our political leaders screwed this up. (Yes, including Trump).

The spike in hospitalizations and ICU bed admissions has ZERO to do with extra testing. Overall positives? You’re absolutely right. Test more and get more. But a test does not determine your severity of symptoms. A test does not give you COVID pneumonia which looks different on X-ray than other pneumonia’s other than opiate overdose or RA patients. Positivity rate has nothing to do with amount of tests. You’d hope for the rate to go down, not up with more testing. The percentage of overall people tested being positive is higher than it was when less were being tested.
All my info if from firsthand work in the Houston area. I don’t know where any of you guys are from. I can only tell you what I am seeing with my own eyes. Or that’s all I choose to tell you. I’m not going to spit out stats from news sources you won’t believe anyway. You choose not to believe me personally or any of the other long term members who are also healthcare? Fine.

I don’t think trump screwed it up because people seem to forget that at the time of the shutdown China was using draconian measures to stop it and Italy was truly a complete disaster. Hindsight is 20/20, but at the time all we knew is China is going to cook up the Big One one day in their Petri dish nation and that this might possibly be it. Thankfully, it wasn’t and trump isn’t going to shutdown the economy again no matter what the hysterical folks say.

Things that are high risk shouldn’t be done anyway. How can you as a healthcare worker not understand high risk patients vs general population.

You realize that when most older people die they have no idea what really killed them right? If you're 80 and die in your sleep, they don't do an autopsy or investigation. They rule your death as something random and move on.
You know why? Because when you're 80 you're expected to die soon.
