I'm not for tearing down statues but I've always wondered why there is so much reluctance to discuss the complete picture of Columbus in schools.

You're leaving out a considerable amount of detail, particularly about his governorship of Hispaniola. That's certainly worthy of a mention in the history books and yet there is none. Why is that?

you clearly do not get it

the narrative always is

colonizers all bad

indigenous all saints (even tho they enslave and kill their own here in americas and africa.)

nobody is saying he was all good. the article does not state that either. re read and see if you can comprehend the point being made versus the common narrative spewed by liberal academia.

how is that working out for zimbabwe and SA now?

You can take all the potshots you want but if you read my post, my issue is with teaching an incomplete picture of Columbus. That covers the incomplete view of him as evil, genocidal European.

Not sure what riled you up, bud.

I'm in favor of teaching history as it actually was. Why do schools not even teach the actual names of the ships he sailed on?

Really? From what I see, BLM is getting stronger and stronger by the day! They are on course to conquer the USA!

It sickens me to admit it, but, it's true. There is absolutely NO effort anywhere to voice or act in opposition to even the most EXTREME planks in the BLM radical Bolshevik platform.

Folks, look, it's time to admit it -- the radical Left started on this Long March back in 1960. These Bolsheviks have now achieved almost certain victory and accomplishment of their goals. It's really only a matter of time. Will it be a few years? A few decades? It's not longer a matter of counting centuries, IMHO. By the turn of the 22nd Century, the US Constitution will have been completely transformed into a Founding Document of a Leftist Marxist Leninist nation-state.

I don't know whether the name USA will have changed, but, it won't matter because this nation-state will have been fundamentally changed.

nobody wants to call them out for being founded by marxists. all this floyd and police brutality was just a front for them to act.

wonder how dumb these universites will feel once they realize they support marxists?

prolly ZERO. for obvious reasons.

They will feel fine because they are marxists and they support the BLM Bolshevik Revolution.

Red lives matter. Indian subjugator. Take it down and put up a statue of a clueless black slut mama on Maury Povich’s crying couch.

What a biased news story. Why didn't they interview Columbus statue supporters too? Local news used to be okay about presenting both sides. Now they're just trying to persuade people.

Someone who knows a lot about Columbus should start a petition to keep the statue. I'll sign and tell all my friends...

We've got the golden statue of St. Joan near the French Market and the WWI Doughboys memorial in City Park as targets for removal.

Plus, a slew of street names to be changed that owners of commercial establishments are already hollering about the additional costs.

We tried to warn that this was not just about the CSA monuments. They were being used as a probe, a taunt, a pilot for a later attempt at a cultural cleansing of this country.

They are making good on their intentions because there has been no pushback.

Well if we let them have some statues all of the evil will go away and they can't say I/You/We held people back. IF that statue is the problem then all will be well in a couple weeks according to their thinking.

Chief Pocawarren discovered America anyway, not CC, the original white supremacist.

The statue was donated by the American-Italian organization to honor the achievements of Italian immigrants.

Actually it was The Sons of Italy at the time. This starting to piss me off.
