I could see LSU bringing in another catcher. I think they had to wait to see what Romo and Garza would do first.

Good for him. Now he can work with actual coaches that will improve his game. Best of luck.

The talent is there currently. Some of the incoming players have the ability to be impact bats. Some of the returning players have shown glimpses, but have not been consistent.

Hard to trust freshmen & guys who have never performed when given the opportunity

Because they are already 22 or 23 years old and likely wont get more than that next year

Not surprised with this one either, but it hurts offensively, hope we bring in another bat

Without a minor league season they will probably work on their degree paid for by Royals until 21 season begins.

Garza was coming back to be the DH next year and probably wouldn’t get more than that in next years draft. His stock unfortunately for him was highest at the end of last season. It’s best for him to leave and start his career and actually be able to catch.

There are plenty of bats on this team to take over the DH spot just none of it is proven. It’s time for that number one recruiting class from a couple years ago to show why they were rated that high. Beloso is the only bat from that class that is proven.

2021 looking like a decent bet to be Marinara's last

Hopefully Corona will shut down Louisville baseball this spring (KY has liberal Gov) and McDonnell will be ready for the move to the big show

This is fine in theory, but any kid that would actually be able to compete for a starting job is already locked up with someone else. And there hasn't been really any coaching changes this offseason to make guys available.

The only hope would be for some kid that was a freshman at one of the Mississippi or Louisiana JUCOs to pop up in the local summer leagues that were created in response to COVID. But pickings would be extremely slim.

I personally think Garza is going to end up moving to first. I think his bat could play at the major league level but I don’t see him as major league catcher.
