Ask away.
Where would you suggest living, if I gave you the following qualifications?
- quiet/private (not dealing with college kids and riff raff when I'm home)
- clean (not some old POS """"rustic"""" house with tons of """"character"""")
- around $1000/month
- will allow for my home gym set up (power rack, barbell, bench, plates) without issue
When I was at LSU, I lived in Gonzales/Prairieville and commuted in. Living in a small house in a new suburb was awesome, but after 4 years the commute started to wear on me. I may mind commuting but 1-2 hours round trip in the snow is something I'd ideally want to avoid.
Size and proximity to fun things are of minimal importance.

Cold as frick.
Flat as frick.
Boring as frick. You have the college World Series and the Zoo and a whole lotta nothing after that. No pro teams. None within an easy drive.
Slim pickings with the wife material.

I would explore the Dundee area but I think it might be pricey.

I've heard there are quite a few blonde, blue eyed beauties there. Unsure if that's true.

Also not trashy like St Louis so there's that.

From Omaha you can walk to Iowa and casinos. Not much of a consolation but hardly the middle of Nebraska.

I live in the Millard area and work in downtown Omaha. My commute is 17 miles one way, which amounts to a 30 minute drive. Traffic really isn’t that bad in Omaha. I spent 3 years in Denham and worked in Baton Rouge. That commute sucked.
Millard has some of the best schools in the state and a pretty decent range of types of houses. I live in a quiet neighborhood, 3 bed 2 bath and 2 car garage. I pay roughly $1000 a month for it. Of course right up the road you can find houses in the $250k to $350k range.

Actually, the snow is not really that bad in Omaha. It’s the cold and the salt that’ll get you. Not saying it doesn’t snow in a Omaha, cause it does. They do a decent job of clearing the roads when it does.
It’s the cold that takes The most getting used to.

Whole lotta HS sweetheart marriages up there from my experience going to HS in the Millard area. This, slim. There are a few... but, it’s still NE level.

Honestly not sure about the current single scene, but I met my blonde hair, blue eyed wife 23 years ago in Omaha
I do know that there are quite a bit of apartment and condo Dwelling young urban professionals that reside within the city limits. Omaha has been doing quite the job of attracting young talent to the city.
