re: Defunding the police WOULD BE a good thing.

Just one month ago this forum was all, still "back the blue"? after their Gestapo like tactics during the pLandemic. There is a police state, there are too many cops, screw em, cut em lose.

After the cops we can go after the teachers NEXT!! Defund the education system. Man my taxes could be on the way down, better yet, let's defund the GOVT by 50%

I mean as conservatives don't we want lower taxes and less gov't?? SHeeeit, let's start here and work our way through.

Fox news has you all spiraling for no reason. Virtually nobody is talking about getting rid of the police entirely. I disagree completely with the few that are and most democrats do as well. Also defund the police is a bad saying and confuses people.

Police respond to everything these days.

If theres a fire police show up
Someones having a heart attack, police show up
Loose cows on the road? call the police
Mental health breakdown? Call the police
Homeless person sleeping under the interstate? Call the police

This is about lowering the rate in which the police interact with the public. Most police officers agree that they're required to respond to too many things. It's resulted in police budgets being over-bloated for the past 10 years.

Take NYC for example, their plan is to take 1 billion dollars out of the police budget over the next 4 years. Guess what? They have added a billion dollars to that budget from 2011-2019.

Take that money put it elsewhere and limit the scope of policing. Stop fear mongering.

So I'm guessing that it's alright with you that your wife, or your children die in a house fire, that police can respond to in less than half the time of the fire department? You are aware that the police get people out of burning houses and buildings, long before the fire department even shows up, on a regular basis, correct?

So I'm guessing that it's alright with you that your mother/father/uncle dies of that heart attack, that the police can and do respond to, rendering first aid/chest compressions and saving lives, long before an ambulance can ever show up? And God forbid it happen in some dangerous situation, because an ambulance crew won't put themselves in danger to render first aid, if the location isn't secure. You know this, right?

And I'm sure you are okay with putting the lives of your family at risk, and just letting animals roam the freeways and highways, right? I mean it's not like people die every day from accidents caused by animals on the roadways, right?

I can just keep going, but it's exactly as I said. Nobody holds you idiots responsible for the consequences of your idiotic philosophy.

They are coming to the burbs, and we absolutely dare them. Consider my idea a purging of the lowest common denominator.

Look, like I said, a few will think they can get away with it, but after a week or so...a gun in your face has a lot more meaning than possible incarceration months down the road. I call it instant motivation, and it works well.

You would start to see respect like no other among people. That is why I support open carry at all times at all places.
