The fact that there are intelligent people who don't see the metric frick ton of irony in this statement is amazing to me.

That’s the tweet I meant that was the shot at russillo.

Just going to throw this out there, being a blogger for ~45k in LA probably isn’t a career path young black college grads are trying to jump on.

Most people don’t have the security net for that

Don't really agree with that and lots of Ringer staffers don't live in LA.

I think it’s comparable to everyone outraged about black head coaches in the nfl? Maybe they just don’t have as many qualified to choose from?

I don't disagree that there's more white people to chose from. The non-white podcasters are more "hired guns"(Larry Wilmore, Jemele Hill, Vince Carter) than homegrown talent so I don't think Simmons is not trying. Rembert and Wesley outgrew Grantland and I'd guess Shea doesn't want to do weekly podcasting. Ironically, the Van Lathan/ Rachel Lindsay pod started like a week before all this sprung up.

The ringer is well on their way to being completely dead like Deadspin. Eaten alive by their own toxic sjws. Spotify overspent by $175mm.

A couple of current and ex ringer writers were subtweeting and liking anti- russillo tweets when it went down last week

Lot of it reeks of jealousy

Bill Simmons looked like he was coming back to the center over the past year when he hired Ryen and made some politically incorrect jokes, insinuated he and Sal placed a heavy bet on Trump winning re-election, had some pretty un-PC takes on Chappelle's brilliance, cancel culture, etc.

Since he was purchased by Spotify he's been shilling so fricking hard for the left. I think there's no doubt that Ryen is on the way out and that Bill won't want to (or be able to) protect him from Spotify.

I cancelled all subscriptions to The Ringer podcasts the other day after I realized that a Rewatchables podcast had not dropped in like 2 weeks. That's the main one I listened to, but also usually caught much of the Sunday Rusillo show as well.

I got to looking and then saw that Simmons had on the pussy duo of Popovich and Kerr, who wouldn't say shite about Chinese authoritarianism and Hong Kong, but couldn't wait to be the first ones to spout left wing propoganda about America.

Simmons also had on the racist guy who basically popularized the term "woke" and kind of began the BLM hype.

Last I checked, still no Rewatchables episodes after they were pumping out 2 a week.

My guess is, and I'm totally serious, that Ringer staff said they wouldn't do any fluffy movie podcasts like that during "such a time if reflection and intensity" or some bullshite like that.

I'm done with them. Simmons got paid and he probably doesn't even care anymore. Rusillo will get cut, I guarantee it.

But honestly, now isaybe the best time ever for a guy like him. He could totally pull off a YouTube Joe Rogan type thing except more geared towards sports and movies. He could just have on a guest and talk.

I'm sure the rest of the lunatic fringe Ringer staff thinks Rusillo is basically a member of the Third Reich for being remotely close to center on many issues.

It's truly a parody world right now.

This is absolutely what happened. It’s the best hope for Ryen too, is that since he’s not verified “woke” he’s just been asked to lay low for a while.

Bills likes to think he’s against cancel culture but he’s really not. Some of his rewatchables he’ll complain about scenes from twenty plus years ago and how they don’t fit his current view point etc.. Anytime he goes on a political rant it’s hard left as well. Don’t let him fool you.

Ry guy just put out a new pod. Doesn’t look like it touches anything race related.

Edit: Dominique Foxworth talks to Ryen about what he said.

They are releasing one this week. But I can’t blame anyone for being cautious right now.
