I loved this movie when I was 11 or 12. I've never had the heart to watch the new Netflix version. I may be wrong, but I suspect they ruined it.

I'm not sure if Legend was a kids movie, but we were allowed to watch it as kids, even at school.

This guy was certainly not cartoony.

A lot of Disney movies I think would fall into this category.

Scar from Lion King.
Gaston from Beauty & the Beast did have his goofy moments but was pretty menacing at the end.
Jafar from Aladdin.

etc.

Professor Screweye from ‘We’re Back: A dinosaur story’

Willingly broadcasts paranoia and fear over the radio waves and signs children to a blood contract while also feeding them brain drain and turning them into chimpanzee like creatures.

MFing truth. Can't let my kiddos watch it yet, but it's excellent.

I loved that movie, but I loved the book even more as a kid. The two follow up books written by the original author's daughter weren't bad either

It likely predates you and your brother, but CBS would air this annually as a Special Program in primetime.

This fricker gave me nightmares, not so much his face, but what he did.

Was just about to post Watership Down. I remember reading it in middle school and everyone was bored so our teacher showed us the movie and all of a sudden rabbits were fricking engaging as hell.
