I am seeing more people that I never recognize on this board commenting. I’m seeing boycotts of the saints and Brees or on the other side boycotting Kamara, Thomas, and Jenkins.

Brees is right in his opinion. And I agree with not kneeling for the anthem. But his timing and comment was the wrong timing and did missed the mark. Brees should apologize not for his comment but his lack of self awareness. The reason he is so loved is his ability to be a leader and take responsibility.
The other side is right to hold him accountable, but is wrong doing so publicly.

If you are boycotting someone, burning or cutting up their jersey, etc. your irrationalism is stupid and no one cares. It’s dumb and your emotional reaction is as bad as the people you’re talking about and think your opinion matters that much. (Oh I understand the irony).

The only people that it really matters for is the one that’s in the locker room.

Directing a statement to Trump should go a long way and does a lot for that cause.

Just because you don’t recognize me doesn’t mean I’m not a lifelong Saints fan that hates how all this shite unfolded. You sir are a racist!

Awesome. The people and the new cause you support is not only racist but also demands disbanding and defunding the police. frick that locker room. And frick your Aints. Reason why I haven’t been on here much because I honestly I had one foot out the door for 4 years. Your team is the biggest trash franchise in a league of trash franchises.

Have fun with your fellow sheep

There is no "right" or "wrong". It's simply just his opinion/belief

From what I gather it was an answer to a specific question. It's not like Brees decided to be a provocateur and go on twitter to unilaterally make the comment in the middle of all the protesting. With hindsight being 20/20 he probably would have just refused to the the interview. But he probably figured that we went through this same, tired, song and dance a few years back and his opinion expressed then is the same as it is today. So what difference does it make.

Why? He didn't say anything prejudice. His black teammates may disagree with his opinion, but that DOES NOT make it "wrong" (or "right"). Why should they not be held accountable for publicly excoriating the single most important player in the history of the franchise? One, whose ACTIONS over the course of 15 years have never once been racist/prejudicial in nature.

Just because we may have differences in opinions doesn't mean we can't work together for a common goal. Or hell, even be great friends? Do you and your best friends agree on everything? My friends and I sure don't.

All his apologizing does is (1) silence open "communication" everyone now says we so desperately need and (2) validate that there are "right" and "wrong" opinions based STRICTLY upon the judgment of the vocal masses. You can have a wrong conclusory statement premised upon facts. But you can't have a "wrong" belief

Brees had a great opportunity to use this moment to further reason and communication. Instead, his apologizing and groveling simply just validates authoritarianism. "Either you have the "right" belief or we kill you (figuratively)". You know where that permeates? North fricking Korea

I agree with every word of your post.

I’ve loved the Saints long before Drew, and will love them a lot longer than anyone currently on the team will be there.
