I don’t have an issue with protests, I do have an issue protesting police violence by getting into the police’s face and egging them on. If you don’t want an issue with police, keep your distance.
Furthermore, that wasn’t much of a shove. For anyone but an old man, it’s nothing. An old person can throw a helmet, throw a brick, shoot a gun, no different than anyone else. If you want to be treated different because you are old then stay home, it’s not going to happen during a protest and riot.
ETA: if the old man was in a protest line and the police confronted him, it would be different. The old man intentionally walked up to the police.

There is absolutely nothing in that video to suggest the man was egging the police on or antagonizing them. If anything it looks like he had a police helmet and was trying to return it to them. But without any audio of what he or the cop said, we just don't know. The shove was out of line, and leaving him there with a bleeding ear just makes it exponentially worse for them.
