Its a much better movie too, so it might approach the Titanic numbers.

no way in hell. as much as i enjoyed dark knight, i dont see people going to the theaters to see this 3+ times, which is how titanic got its record. dark knight will still do good though.

Not a chance in hell.

Especially not the overall total.

It'll rank in the top ten all time when it's all said and done, but there won't be enough lonely swooning housewives going to watch it ten times in theaters like Titanic had.

Yeah, TDK does not have an army of 12 year old girls watching the film 10 times.

Only an army of 40 year old comic book fan boys.

I don't think I saw anyone over 30 at the midnight showing....I am sure they were there but they sure as hell are not the main demographic for this movie.

You must be very young..

Without us old folks buying comic books and supporting all the horrible superhero movies over the years there would never be anything like TDK.

i would say a little less than 1/2 were over 30. I also think the 30 year olds will keep numbers high because they will go later on

I can't see it hitting Titanic's numbers.

It doesn't have that young teen female demographic that will see it multiple times in the theatre.

Plus, the theatre to DVD window is a lot shorter now and, with the explosion of really good home theatre systems, a lot of people will see it on the big screen once just to get the maximum experience (maybe twice) and then wait for it to be released on Blu-Ray.

DVD sales might get close to some sort of a record, though.

193 million dollars total.

That is fricking insane that on an action movie in which Nolan was pretty much told he had an unlimited budget, it has basically recouped production and marketing expenses on the opening weekend.

Serves them right for being stupid enough to put it on that date.

Wasn't like the Dark Knight snuck up on anyone.
