Count me in the 5-10 hdcp 30-40 age range. I hit my 3 iron 230

I know these are "median" numbers, but I do not believe age or handicap play as much into distance. It's all math – ball speed / launch angle / backspin. I think (I know) 20 hdcp guys that bomb it. I know 5 handicap guys that are in the 250 range. Certainly better players will hit the ball on the center of the club face more consistently, giving them better odds at catching one for big numbers.
3 iron 230? You play a different game my friend. My 3-wood is my 230 club.

I don’t carry a 3 iron. I carry a 3,5, and 7 wood.
For 230, I’d use a 3 wood and hope I caught it thin and it was downhill on a dry day to have a chance!

I thought I was just playing with some big hitters, but now I know I’m a short hitter.

That’s probably not too unusual, especially if it’s a 3 iron that’s probably more like a 2 iron.

A lot of players in that range can poke it pretty good; they just aren’t as consistent as the low single digit or plus guys.

I’m in my early 30’s and in the same distance and handicap range. Used to be a better player but work and family start cutting into your game at a certain point.
