Leaving kids that young unattended in a car in a public parking lot is fricking moronic. You and your wife sound like trash.

An entire generation of kids that age stayed home by themselves in the 70s-80s etc and prior.

fricking helicopter parenting pisses me off. All of these kids are going to grow up to be adults that are scared of their own shadow.

You should give your kids the chance to get injured. If you don’t, then they won’t learn and become pussies like apparently their parents are.

You're quite the keyboard badass.

Do what you want with your kids and I'll do what I want with mine.

OP asked for opinions and he got mine. If you don't like it eat a dick.

Fallguy you and I are in the same generation I was born in 1970.

I sure as shite don't know anyone who I grew up with who was left home alone at 8 and 5.

That was my experience but I am sure there are others out there.

i was 10 before i was left at home with 6 yr old sibling for hours.

i was given phone numbers of neighbor in case of emergency.

as it happened a tornado came by while my parents were out.
i opened windows as we were instructed in school and took sibling into finished basement.

sibling had to pee. made them.pee in a rubber boot.
parents get home. come down for us. mother complains that every square inch of house has bits and twigs.
sibling complains about pee in boot.
i was unrepentant and glad it did not make direct hit.

ive been real close to a few tornados. lucky so far. Louisiana. Kentucky and illinois.

I don't remember the exact age but my parents split up when we were young. Me and my siblings stayed home all summer alone starting somewhere around age 11, 9 & 7.

Don't know where you live but I'm pretty sure leaving kids in a car at that age is against LA state law.

Well you would be wrong if it is 10 minutes for less.

This poster you are replying to:

1. Doesn't have kids.

2. Has a rich arse daddy who spoon fed him his entire life.

3. Daddy paid his way to go to Ole Miss and he flunked out.

4. Has always claimed to be an LSU insider, to the point where his account has been banned for years and years.

5. Has the maturity level, to this day, of a kid who probably can't be trusted to be left alone in a car by himself.

I believe the 10 minute portion of that law only is only for allowing an officer to break into your vehicle.

It is illegal to leave a child under the age of 6 unattended out of view of the parent.

If anybody approaches me while my kids are around I’m on high alert. My goal is to keep anyone from hurting my family.

She should have gotten in the car and drove away. Don’t let crazy people suck you in. Fight or flight.

I would never do it at a grocery store, but I leave my kids in the car to run inside a gas station real quick or to pick up a to go order. Is that ok?

True

What does that matter if my rich arse daddy left me in a car alone at 8? The butler wasn’t there I assure you. He was back at home fluffing my pillow. And even when he was around taking me grocery shopping, he did the same damn thing. Didn’t want me running over to the cereal aisle while he was by the butcher’s looking for good meat.

I take offense to that. It’s been 5 years since I’ve totaled a car.

I don’t think your wife did anything wrong especially with the AC going and the doors locked.

Because of pussies who are anxious about everything. The kids have AC, all I had was a rolled down window and my Mattel Football game.

When are y’all going to understand it’s not about the kids? It’s about the weirdos out there. For some people who claim this country is going to shite, culcha, etc, it sure seems like y’all are still living in the 70’s and 80’s, “when I grew up”

How many weirdos are there out in the open? Plenty, I’m sure, but why do you assume these same pedophile weirdos are more likely to abduct your kid in a busy parking lot than in the silence of your own driveway? I’d like to think that every single poster here would stop a child abduction in a supermarket parking lot. It’s what I would do, and what I think you would do as well. You’re just being a helicopter parent.
