Disney world isn’t a place you just flip a switch on when it has been totally shut down. There are so many moving pieces to that place that have to get going.

I think they might be waiting until they can have the parks at close to full capacity before reopening.

Didn’t the lay off a bunch of their employees? Those people left and went get other jobs? Now they have to rehire many to staff?

Also, doesn’t many come from around the country/world to work there? They either went home because they couldn’t pay their bills or relocated.

I don’t think people like the guy who started this thread understands the business behind running a place like Disney.

The plan is reduced capacity, masks, temp checks, no fireworks, no parades, no meet and greets.

They are going to have to re-hire a lot of people, restock a lot of food inventory, etc. Make new scheduling guidelines and decisions, etc.

Plus the wiping down stuff... that's going to be wild. My guess is by July, they are hoping it won't be necessary.

I'm shocked they are waiting so long. Universal is going to be open more than a month before Disney is.

Yep. This is a total failure of leadership. Florida will probably be nearing phase 3 before they even open.

We have a trip scheduled July 8th-18th so this news sucks.. On top of that i read you'll be required to have mask on at all times... frick that.. its 95 w/ 90% humidity constantly and without a mask somedays its just oppressively hot..

6 weeks = 2 months in your world? Also, they will be doing soft openings prior to the opening date.

I just got an email from Disney with this info.
quote:

To manage attendance and foster physical distancing during this unprecedented time, we will be changing and suspending some Park experiences. In addition, we will also be introducing a new Theme Park reservation system.

Unfortunately, these new measures have required us to cancel any FastPass+ selections you may have made. We recognize the inconvenience this poses and we’re deeply sorry. ? However, because you have valid Theme Park admission, you will have access to the Theme Park reservation system before new tickets are sold to other Guests.

There’s nothing you need to do at this time. We’ll be contacting you soon with details on this new system.

WDW lives and dies with the labor provided by their college program. They cancelled it a few weeks ago. Will take a lot of time and effort to staff up with out the CP kids.

Disney. What a bunch of pricks!

So they have decided to reopen some of their hotels, but only the vacation club hotels. So what does this mean? They are telling reservation holders at their value or moderate hotels (with valid reservations) that they either have to cancel, or transfer over to the deluxe hotels

1) Disney is not honoring any promos that those people had

2) Disney is charging them full price for the forced upgrade

One family posted that they would have been charged an additional $1800 for a 5 night stay, during a time when Disney would be officially open. Those folks are now done with Disney. That and the fact you have to wear a mask in the blazing heat

Yet, Disney bends over backwards to accommodate millionaires in the NBA. By the way, how are the players going to play with face masks on, like the ones being required for actual paying guests?

. . . . Oh wait, they wont be
